In your opinion, are those programs about the talent or more about the judges?

Yes it was a heavy platter. Far from the RCA Dynaflex LPs of the early 1970s. Those you could almost bend into a sandwich.

I have received both the vinyl and CD. The cover graphics seem darker than I remember, but I never bought the original vinyl. I can see the appeal of vinyl in holding the LP, being that I am able to read the lyrics and inserts without reading glasses. The CD digipak is an improvement over the jewel case issue; and to think, I used to avoid the digipaks. I even put off buying a new Bonnie Raitt CD until I could find it in a jewel case that would fit in with the collection. Probably OCD.

I still have Elvis on the enemies list. I bought his first 4 albums but then I decided he did not deserve my money. linkI found this offhand remark Costello made in an interview with Musician magazine. This is late 1983 and that horses' ass still drags on Ronstadt for no apparent reason.

Linda had an album that leapt immediately into the Top 10. A top 10 single How Do I Make You. And I can tell you in the last 30 years exactly how many times I have heard How Do I Make You on the radio. One time. Yet I hear the Pat Benatar single from that time almost every week. I think rock radio turned against Linda as soon as she branched out into Broadway. My local rock station stopped playing her and never started back. The only time you will hear Ronstadt on the local rock station is when she is harmonizing with Neil Young and very rarely with Warren Zevon.

Also this week young (44) soap opera star Billy Miller died. He was diagnosed with this disease. Possibly due to his age it was not this disease that killed him.

Jann Wenner is somewhat inarticulate... he is certainly no Dave Marsh.

Video of the un-boxing of the vinyl of "Canciones" -- That's an odd unboxing. Who opens up a new LP and plops down the stylus in the middle of the second song on Side 2?

Got mine Saturday. It’s great, good quality material used in packaging. 180 gram vinyl sounds wonderful. I bought one of these. I've not opened it yet. Probably will never listen to it. When I listen to this album, I choose the high resolution version I have stored on my server. But I will probably crack it open some time in the future just to look at the inside graphics, lyrics, etc. One of the many things on my LR bucket list is posting the full graphics of every LP. The only time I ever listen to vinyl is when I pull out some LP that I don't have on CD that was never issued on CD, and make a digital copy. I really don't understand the vinyl fervor but apparently I help support it.

Jimmy Buffett was certainly my favorite male singer in the early '70s, before Margaritaville, but I found his albums less enjoyable after that and by the early '80s I quit buying them.

A lot of fans have Linda genres that do not appeal to them. I think the majority of Linda's fans would not listen to Pirates of Penzance. And I know a few Linda fans who quit buying her records when she went into the Nelson Riddle years. But I first came to know of Linda as a country singer with Hand Sown... Home Grown, so I like that music, but I also like most of the music she has performed in other genres.

Mike Chapman here is well into his third year of bad-mouthing popular artists who he thinks should "make room and open the door for" his artists-- Blondie, Nick Gilder, and Pat Benatar.
