The album is on Barnes and Noble, Target, Amazon, but oddly not yet on the official Linda Ronstadt website.

If Wikipedia is correct about Skeeter’s version: “It is the first, and, to date, only time that a song cracked the Top 10 (and Top 5) on all four Billboard charts [Hot 100, Hot Country Singles, Hot R&B Singles, and Easy Listening].” Another odd statistic about Skeeter from the Billboard Top Country Singles book. This book says that Skeeter Davis is the most popular country singer to never have a #1 song. The End of the World peaked at #2 Country. There were singers rated below her who did have a #1 hit but maybe not as many hits in toto.

What with my imperfect memory and all, I don't recall if I, or someone else, posted this opinion piece by Robrt Pela. But I was in agreement with him. Selena Gomez sings Linda Ronstadt

Herman's Hermits did a version of the song and I remember them singing "Don't Say No" and even as a kid I thought you fools that's not the correct words. But I heard it on the radio (satellite of course) by the Hermits recently and the lyrics were correct. So maybe my memory is imperfect. Well I know that it is.

Linda and Mick Jagger were together for a year in the late 1970s. They were the King and Queen of Rock n Roll in that era. It’s common knowledge. I've seen no evidence of that.

The price is not so out of line with what I see other new vinyl albums selling for. Which is one reason I mostly don't buy vinyl. That and the fact that I don't like vinyl because it is a nuisance. I mostly only buy Ronstadt on vinyl.
I did buy a while back a Brandy Clark live vinyl Record Store Day release as it was not released on CD. So I transferred it to a CD and digital and then months later they released it on digital. My efforts were futile. I hate vinyl. That is why I am getting rid of many more of my crashed LPs. I will never play them again. I have them on digital. I was looking at the pitiful selection of LPs in the Goodwill type store. Mantovani. Living Strings. I'm thinking of dumping my Wanda Jackson collection there-- but I still can't let go of my mono Kinks albums.

My set arrived in the mail today. It was marked with a sticker price of $99.99 but I paid $120 on ebay, which included shipping.
Don't Cry Now and Simple Dreams included the picture inner sleeves, although they were a matte finish instead of the original glossy finish.
Prisoner in Disguise, Hasten Down the Wind, and Simple Dreams were also gatefolds as they were originally released.
Since there were no bonus tracks, I think an LP-sized booklet with some photographs from that era, hopefully some that we have not seen, would have made this a much more desirable and collectible package. But that would have taken some extra creative effort. So this goes on the shelf. I'm not going to play it. I don't even like vinyl.
The name of this set was Linda Ronstadt The Asylum Years 1973 - 1977. That makes me wonder if The Asylum Years 1978 - 1982 might be upcoming. But that would only be 3 LPs.
I would rather see Linda Ronstadt The Capitol Years 1969 - 1974. My vinyl copy of Hand Sown... Home Grown is in tatters.

Actual letter to Dear Abby:
Dear Abby,
A couple of women moved in across the hall from me. One is a middle-aged gym teacher and the other is a social worker in her mid-twenties. These two women go everywhere together and I've never seen a man go into or leave their apartment. Do you think they could be Lebanese?

Checked 3 local places for the box. 2 will get them. The closest one is getting two of them. The other is in NH but, if I need to, I can order it Sunday am first thing. See what happens. Would still like to discuss our collections. Rich $?

The headline in People said Country Singer Conner Smith Marries Surfer Leah Thompson in Romantic Wedding Ceremony: See the Photos!
I read it a couple of times but all I saw was Connie Smith got married. I did not remember her divorcing Marty Stuart. And then I noticed she married someone named Leah. On the third reading, I read it correctly== Conner Smith. Never heard of him. So no point in looking at the pictures.
According to Dolly, Connie was one of the three best singers, but this was back when Dolly had a much smaller worldview. I think Connie Smith was very good but she should have been marketed as a pop singer.

A while back I posted about my shelf breaking and my LPs crashing to the floor: I thought the damage was minimal. I finally got the shelf repaired and replacing the records and I have found two casualties, Linda Ronstadt Greatest Hits and Living Like a Fool/He Darked the Sun.

This story has embedded the bootleg version of Walk Away Renee that is a mashup of Linda and Ann's version combined with The Four Tops. To get the two versions to match, they chipmunked up the Ronstadt/Savoy one.
I like this mashup but you would think they would use the officially released version.

I see that a Tom Petty tribute album is coming and it features Dolly Parton doing his song Southern Accents. Not a bad job. That reminded me of a visit to Nashville and I got to attend the Opry as a guest of Elizabeth Cook. Got to sit on the stage with some friends and watch the entire night's performances. She sang Southern Accents that night as a tribute to Tom Petty, who had recently died. I recorded it and you can listen to it from this link if you have an interest: Southern Accents - Elizabeth Cook live Opry performance

(Tony, I sincerely hope that you don’t mean really violated.) . I suppose I should explain. While we were watching the movie, my car was broken into and my wife’s pocketbook was stolen. They took her money and jewelry and threw the pocketbook away. It was found and returned a few days later. Credit cards and ID were still there. So in actuality she was more violated than I.

I've been listening to "current hits" radio station recently for something different. To my ears most of the female singers do not put any emotion into their singing. They're almost indistinguishable. (The guys are more unique.) I heard Selena Gomez today but it was a non-event. Taylor Swift is better than most. Today I heard Beyonce's Texas Hold'Em song and she comes across as a better singer than any other female I heard. And even though I'm not crazy about the song, it sounds better to me than what I hear on current country radio.

"Favorite" singer is a very subjective term and doesn't really necessarily reflect the level of vocal talent or ability. Yes, there's really no arguing with this list. They asked the listeners to vote and these are the results. To use a trite phrase that I detest, it is what it is. I know that Karen Carpenter and Olivia have dedicated online fan groups who try to vote in every poll. I did not vote in this one or even post a link here. I also wonder if them ending up #1 #2 could be partially due to the Jim Croce effect. Back in the '70s I liked Jim Croce. I had one of his albums. Unfortunately he died an untimely death. Radio started playing his music ad nauseum. It got to the point that I switched the station when I heard him, especially Time in A Bottle. The public's love for an artist seems to intensify when they are no longer with us. To this day I still don't listen to Jim Croce, although I don't mind hearing Melanie sing one of his tunes.
