I have carefully read the posts on the sightings of Linda and this mystery man and if those sightings are to be believed and I see no reason to not believe them than this Neil Diamond look alike named Rick may well be Linda's one true love. What I conclude from these sightings is that Rick is a business man and not part of the entertainment industry. I remember reading an article that said Linda liked men in suits and this Rick seems to fit the profile. Can also understand her wanting to keep this love under wraps if in fact he is her one true love. I'm sure most of us have had a love or lover we would not want made public. There was one post that stated they knew who this Rick was but I agree with the sentiment that unless he is a public figure his identity should be kept private. So much of her dating was just fodder for the tabloids that it would be nice to think that Linda did have a real true love in her life and she has been able to keep him unknown all these years. Hopefully, if he is still alive, he can bring her some comfort as she battles her illness.

EDB & Gabby are correct. It is not Richard Norton. I went to see Linda this past December in Las Vegas. She was being interviewed by Ray Suarez as part of the UNLV Lecture Series. After the interview as she was leaving the "stage" I saw a man moving to the side to meet her. To say that she was shocked is to put it mildly. I was nearby and distinctly heard her say "Rick, I can't believe your here." He put his arms around her and they kissed. Linda had her arms around his neck and I can tell you it was the kind of kiss the happens between lovers not friends. He called her "L" not Linda. He said something to her which I couldn't hear and than he touched her face. He was a good looking, classy man about 70 with grey hair. Well dressed. As Linda was a bit unsteady on her feet he put his arm around her waist and walked her towards a backstage area. There was a great deal of tenderness between the two of them. I am so happy for her.

I think the reason we have never heard of Rick from Linda (and never will) is that he was married.
I am not so sure of that. Her fling with Lowell George appeared to end quickly once she found out he lied to her by saying he was single. She was quite embarrassed by that although they did remain friends. Could be Rick married after their fling but they stayed friends. Or Rick is a priest lol. Funny thing is to many people "sex is sex" and fairly meaningless and just momentary release and enjoyment with no strings but to others, especially if there is a spouse it can be the crime of the century. In that culture (entertainment) I think Angie Dickenson had the best attitude about sex and relationships. Maybe because she was a liberated sexpot lol. The most dangerous adversary of sex is love. Then all bets are off. And that is when things can get complicated.
MJ didn't say if Rick looked like Neil Diamond or not. That fact along with his name and her reaction would be somewhat confirming. I love a good mystery.

George Lucas and Linda were rarely seen together and eluded photographers. The houseboy comment below was quite amusing. Linda, Dolly, Emmylou and their HouseboyAnd by December 1983, Lucas started dating the flamboyant singer Linda Ronstadt after meeting her backstage at one of her concerts.
This was another odd pairing of someone quiet and introspective and 'not terribly adventurous in bed', with his opposite, according to Griffin.
Lucas was warned that Ronstadt had a roving eye and wasn't interested in settling down.
She was a known heartbreaker and a man-eater, having had high-profile romances with musician JD Souther, journalist Pete Hamill, California governor Jerry Brown and Rolling Stone Mick Jagger.
She also dated Steve Martin, Jim Carrey and Little Feat singer Lowell George.
Just like Lucas, she valued her privacy so they were never photographed together.
'Lucas was so low-key that as he trailed along after Ronstadt in a San Anselmo [California] drugstore, the proprietor thought he was her houseboy,' Jones writes.
'George is lucky to be with her,' the author quotes an unnamed friend. 'He will have more fun than he's ever had in his life. Then she will break his heart into thousands of pieces and go on to someone else.'
They dated for five years and never discussed their relationship publicly but Ronstadt rented a house in San Francisco, where she traveled from her home base in Los Angeles and 'playfully carried around an Empire Strikes Back lunchbox'.
Lucas was smitten and jumped into dance and guitar lessons - but only for a couple of months.
He tried to morph into someone cool, ditched his eyeglass frames for contacts and shaved the hairy beard consuming his face.
Rumors swirled that they had gotten married but they hadn't. They did get engaged - 'ring on the finger and all', Ronstadt blurted out.
She began spending more time at Skywalker Ranch, riding horses and used Skywalker Sound recording studios facilities for her 1987 album of traditional Mexican folk songs, Canciones de Mi Padre.
Lucas was falling head over heels and suggested building a honeymoon cottage on the property adjacent to his Skywalker compound.
But the cottage never materialized and the relationship had evaporated by 1988 after five years.
That same year he adopted another daughter, Katie, and adopted a son in 1993.
In her own post-relationship family building, Ronstadt adopted a baby girl in 1990 at age 44, and she followed that up four years later by adopting an son.
Despite Lucas's film successes, he declared his children were his proudest achievement and wanted his epitaph to be 'I was a great dad'.
He had learned to relax finally with children and being a father made him happier than he had ever been.
Friends say they've 'never seen him this happy' as he is now that he's married Hobson. He has also said that having children (his daughters pictured right) helped him learn to relax 'Now I know the truth: Children are the key to life, the key to joy, the key to happiness,' he said.
But it was lonely having kids as a single parent.
Lucas, despite being the head of a billion-dollar company, viewed himself as 'the misunderstood little guy'.

Different Drummer wondered if the Rick I saw resembled Neil Diamond. Hard to say at this time in their lives. Rick had long grey hair down to his collar and over his ears. He looked to be about 6 ft tall & about 175lbs. dark eyes and dark eyebrows and a nose like Neil's. He was well dressed in a black blazer, white shirt and jeans. Striking man who you would notice when he walked into a room. My daughter was with me and she said she thought he had a NY accent. She is in her 40's and thought he was really "hot". Could definitely see a similarity between the two of them 40 years ago. Looks and attitude. What I will always remember is the way he touched her face and the kiss between them. This is a long time relationship and the tenderness & yes, passion when they kissed is something I will never forget. Linda is no longer the girl on stage so many guys remember but the connection Rick and she have seems to transcend all the years. Again, I am so happy for her.

"He said the man's first name was Rick. Does anyone know who this man was and why they never married."
Well, I would like to know. At this point it wouldn't make much difference. One of the reasons Linda gave for never marrying was she didn't want to fork over half her money if it didn't work out. Another is she didn't want to feud over how to raise kids. I don't think Linda likes to compromise. Everyone has their own ideas.

I wonder if the Rick might actually be Richard Simmons. Like George Lucas they were never photographed together and I heard that Richard is also a recluse. He resembles Leo Sayer whom Linda seemed to be fond of. He is also a businessman but I never saw him in a suit. Mostly sweat pants or shorts but off camera he was well dressed. He is also quite the comedian. Funny guy.

Have just finished reading book that I got from Australia that confirms that RICK is Richard Norton. It devotes a chapter on Lindas 1979 tour of Australia and Japan when she was 32.It states that the two of them had a serious romance & that they were deeply in love.Dont know why they never married but perhaps MJ could check out the videos on Nortons Facebook page to confirm that the man he saw in Las Vegas was him.

I can't find anything in writing so far that says Linda and Richard Norton were dating for any length of time if at all.
Richard took an unconventional path to stardom. He began a lifelong study of the martial arts at age 14. By 17, the accomplished martial artist worked security at night clubs and taught karate in 500 schools throughout Australia. He became a bodyguard for touring rock stars such as Mick Jagger, James Taylor, and ABBA. With encouragement from Linda Ronstadt, Richard went to Hollywood where Chuck Norris offered him work in the movies, beginning with "The Octagon" (1980). His next starring role in "Force Five" (1981) caught the attention of Jackie Chan.
Jackie Chan has cast Richard as the star heavy in three of his highly charged Hong Kong action epics, still a record for a western actor. In "Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Stars" (1985) and "City Hunter" (1993), Richard displayed his talent for physical comedy and proved his ability to fill the shoes of Chan's screen adversaries. Director Sammo Hung unleashed Richard to depict the villain of "Mr. Nice Guy" (1997) with eccentric edginess, adding more intensity than usual to one of Chan's comedies. "USA Today" took notice and declared Richard as one of the best evildoers in all the Chan films.
During the production of Hung's "Millionaires' Express" (1986) in Asia, Richard bonded with cast member and fellow martial arts star Cynthia Rothrock. Afterwards Norton and Rothrock became a renowned marquee partnership for action films around the world, prompting a British magazine to acclaim them as the "Fred and Ginger of martial arts movies." Together Richard and Cynthia produced the entertaining "Rage and Honor" (1992) series while Richard developed his individual screen persona as both a lead actor and valued ensemble player.

The book was written by Nortons boss and freind Bob Jones. There are videos on his Facebook page done about December 2016 so I hope MJ can confirm his voice & identity. He is now 67 years old so he would be about the right age.I am so happy that they were reunited. He got married in 1993 so that was probably why we haven't heard any more about it.

Definitely not Richard Kline. My daughter took a couple of pics when Linda left the stage and when she was surprised by Rick. Unfortunately the phone flash didn't work so the pics weren't any good. Not sure if they had come out that I would have shown them. Think this is something we can speculate on but for Linda's sake think it might be better to leave it a mystery. My daughter did say that he definitely had an east coast,New York, accent. That seems to fit with a couple of other sightings of them over the years. So glad we were present to see the moment when he surprised her. The touch, kiss and his holding her were something any woman would wish for.

Jim Carrey lived with his parents while dating Linda RonstadtBrian Mansfield, USA TODAY 12:26 p.m. ET Oct. 28, 2014 11 Shares
It's never been a secret that Jim Carrey briefly dated Linda Ronstadt back in the 1980s, but who knew he was living with his parents at the time?
Carrey, whose new film Dumb and Dumber To opens Nov. 14, shared the story on Howard Stern's SiriusXM satellite-radio show Tuesday.
It was the early '80s, and a 21-year-old Carrey had just moved to Hollywood to star in a short-lived NBC TV series called The Duck Factory and had invited his parents to come live with him. He met Ronstadt after she attended one of his performances at Los Angeles' The Comedy Store, looking for an opening act for her next tour.
Ronstadt asked if he'd open for her, and Carrey tells Stern he replied, "No, but I'll go out with you if you want."
And so they did.
"We were together for about eight months," Carrey says. "She was an absolutely incredible human being. She is an incredible human being."
Carrey says Ronstadt, who was in her mid-30s at the time, was so down to earth she didn't mind that he was living with his parents, or that he would come to pick her up for dates in his "crusty, rusty" Chevrolet Bel Air. "I couldn't open the passenger door," he says. "She said, 'Just roll the window down,' and she crawled in the window."
The two dated for about eight months. Carrey tells Stern he was "really infatuated" with Ronstadt, but "the two of us knew it wasn't going to be a forever deal." Little Feat's founding guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Lowell George joined Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention in November 1968 (he can be heard on "Weasels Ripped My Flesh"). Pamela Des Barres (I'm With the Band) wrote that George was fired by Zappa the following year for smoking marijuana, while George claimed at a 1975 Little Feat concert that he was fired because he "wrote a song ["Willin'"] about dope." The song seems to be about a marijuana smuggler:
Smuggled some smokes and folks from Mexico Baked by the sun Everytime I go to Mexico...
And if you give me weed, whites and wine And you show me a sign I'll be willin' To be movin'...
Through the Mothers, Lowell met the other two founding members of Little Feat: bassist Roy Estrada and Bill Payne. A few stories have been promulgated about how Little Feat got their name. One, told by George's first wife Patte Price Stahlbaum, is that their friend and pot dealer Leslie Krasnow remarked one day of the band, "Wow, you guys all have such little feet." (I'm guessing she was stoned that day.) Lowell liked the name with his altered spelling. (Source: Ben Fong Torres, Willin: The Story of Little Feat )
Little Feat's first, self-titled album was a critical success for its complexities and originality. The band’s next album, "Sailin’ Shoes," also was well received. After Linda Ronstadt recorded "Willin'" the band really took off. Lowell was known for his distinctive, synchopated slide guitar work and the storytelling quality of his songs like Fatman in the Bathtub, Spanish Moon, Rocket in my Pocket and Dixie Chicken. The double album "Waiting for Columbus," released in 1978, was the product of seven concerts in Washington, D.C. and London and remains one of the best live rock recordings ever. Read more.
George was also a producer, and produced the Grateful Dead's 1978 album "Shakedown Street," as well as Little Feat's records and his solo album "Thanks, I'll Eat It Here."
Also (sadly) a fan of cocaine, alcohol and too much food, George collapsed and died while on tour at the age of 34 of heart failure. Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Randy Newman, the Bottle Rockets & David Lindley, Allen Toussaint, Taj Mahal, J.D. Souther and others contributed to 1998's Rock N Roll Doctor, A Tribute to Lowell George. American jam band Phish played all the songs from "Waiting for Columbus" during their annual and traditional Halloween "Musical Costume" on 10/31/2010 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. See a tribute page to George and watch him play "Willin" below: Lowell George Tribute Concert Published on May 2, 2014 Partial Concert: Live August 8th, 1979 at The Forum.
