I got the Complete Set on CD when it came out. Loved "Softly and Tenderly" instantaneously. Other versions of the song came out around the same time too. eddiejinfl

Did anyone buy "Farther Along" when it first came out? I bought The Complete Trio Collection on CD when released as well as the LP versions of Trio (rereleased sounds great on LP as does Farther Along. Trio 2 I wouldn’t recommend on vinyl for sound quality. I wonder if the glass harmonica didn’t translate to vinyl well? I don’t know but it is not good what ever it is. Sounds much better on CD where as Trio and Farther Along sounds better on vinyl to my ears.

I probably listen to Disc 3 (Alternate / Unreleased material) the most. Wonder if Mr. Azoff could get Dolly and Emmy to sign off on releasing a video of all of the appearances/performances Linda, Dolly and Emmy made together on TV over the years.

It would be good to have the other Trio video released …. Those Memories Of You. Did anyone buy the Time Life Ultimate Dolly DVD set as it has a HD / very good quality copy of the whole Trio appearance on The Dolly Show in 1987??

I always remember the 1976 show and most often see pics from that show. I forgot she had a 1987 show. eddiejinfl

Go back in time further, and there are videos of Dolly appearing on the Porter Waggoner Show.

I don't recall that show at all. I was not a heavy country music fan. More eclectic with Linda being my prime musical focus. eddiejinfl

I don't recall that show at all. I was not a heavy country music fan. More eclectic with Linda being my prime musical focus. eddiejinfl eddie, I think the video clips that we all know very well here on the Forum are taken from Dolly's 1977 ABC-TV series. At the time of Dolly's 1987 series, I was working an an editor for an entertainment publication and our network TV reporter had stories 1) about how much the ABC network (at that time) had paid for Dolly to do a variety series on the network, and 2) how it was struggling in the ratings. The heyday of variety shows (Dean Martin, Carol Burnett, Dinah Shore, Sonny and Cher, Cher, Donny and Marie, etc.) seemed to be passe by 1987. They tried different formulas with Dolly's 1987 series. Here is the info from Wikipedia ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolly_(1987_TV_series) ) about the episode with Linda and Emmylou -- Episode 3 Directed by Jeff Margolis Written by Fannie Flagg, Phil Hahn, Rhea Kohan, Roger Miller, Aaron Sheffield Airdate October 11, 1987 Guests: Bruce Willis, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Daniel Rosen Summary: Dolly gives an introduction from her bathtub. The theme song "Baby I'm Burning" plays over the opening credits. The show opens with Dolly singing "The Fire That Keeps You Warm". Bruce Willis is Dolly's guest for the "Dolly's Date" segment and they sing a bit of "Under the Boardwalk". Dolly begins the "My Tennessee Mountain Home" segment by singing the title song, she then introduces Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. The Trio sing "My Dear Companion", "Hobo's Meditation", and "Those Memories of You". A new segment titled "Dixie's Place" features Dolly working in a diner where she sings "Hollywood Potters". Acapella sing "Jukebox Saturday Night". The "Out and About" segment follows Dolly to Yankee Stadium to visit with the New York Yankees. A new segment titled "The Novelty Club" follows featuring Daniel Rosen. Dolly hosts a Q&A session with the audience. Dolly closes the show by singing "I Will Always Love You", followed by the closing credits. Fabtastique mentioned that the Linda/Emmylou/Dolly segment is on that Deluxe Dolly DVD set that was released by Time-Life. When it was first released, I posted it to the General Music Discussion -- ronstadt.proboards.com/thread/7200/dolly-on-dvd

See the happy look between Emmy & Linda when Dolly is singing heartbreaker, I’m sure you know this, but the clip you posted is from the 1970s’ program, not the one from 1987.

In the August 1996 Goldmine article, referring to the 1st attempted Trio record, Linda says "I think we had pretty much a whole record". Only 5 songs have been released from those recordings. None of them had Dolly on lead. I'm wondering how many more songs were left out of the so called Complete Trio Collection.
