I've been pretty much in non-stop Trio mode since the release.
Are You Tired Of Me? is so lovely and would have fitted wonderfully on T1. I wonder why it was left off?? It fits better than I've Had Enough in terms of style but now at least we have both, (including a second version of the latter!)

I think I like the alt take of "I've Had Enough" more than the one used on Trio.

love them both, the cello definitely adds an element of sorrow to the tune but the harmonies are lovely too

Fab, you about duplicated what I wanted to say-I've been playing the darn thing for a week straight. I listen mostly in the car so the disc three with 20 songs gets me to work and back! Now that I think of it I like 20 songs on an album-I guess 10-11 song on a typical album came from the limitations of vinyl. I really like a "Are you tired of me" also- in fact was just pondering if the song was folk or country or what? Came to the conclusion that it was mid 19th century parlor style-kinda of like "Lorena" (featured in "The Searchers" with John Wayne and directed by John Ford) By the way a great movie.

I mentioned that also re: "I've Had Enough" in my review on Amazon. I have been trying to upload my review as a reply to Erik's thread but it hasn't worked. Mine is dated Sept 22. (the day after Erik's review) and signed ej. It was the 21st review. eddiejinnj

I only wish there was that same kind of Trio overload amongst the public, or the charts. But then, as I've said elsewhere, we should be only concerned about getting the word about this collection's quality and not giving a hoot in hell about its performance on the charts.

I think the most viable single release from this album would be Where Will The Words Come From but as others have said there is a Country Radio policy of not playing music from anyone over 50. Believe me I know all about ageism and employment. I wonder if the same would go for the Top 100? I remember lots of oldsters having hits over the years when I grew up including Frank Sinatra, Chuck Berry, Peggy Lee, Paul Anka, Paul Wynn, Rudy Vallee and a host of others.
I hope they at least try.

Since The Complete Trio Collection is a compilation (the third CD consisting of unused outtakes or material that wasn't on either of the first two albums), I couldn't conceive of them releasing anything off of it. And the collection isn't even on any of Billboard's album listings now, so I'm afraid that ship has sailed as well.

According to the Dolly site dollymania, it's number 33 on the Billboard Country chart and 24 on the Americana/Folk. I tried to verify it myself but the online Country chart only goes as high as 25 and the other 15.

Well, at least, the album is still on the country album charts for what the 3rd week; (peaking at number 7)? I think the album may get a Grammy Folk category nom. eddiejinnj

Like Linda it is one of those genre bending things we have become used to over the years. It might even qualify for one of those "Event" Grammys that pop up every once in a while.

I know that there are traditional folk and contemporary folk categories. Not sure if there is a specific Americana; maybe traditional covers that? eddiejinnj

If I want just the previously unreleased tracks is it available by itself on CD? If it is can someone provide a link on where to purchase?

I don't believe that you can get that other than to purchase each song individually which is a download and only cd if you burn one. The companion cd to the complete version has some of the released and a few of the unreleased. The double LP set "Farther Along" just has the unreleased material. Maybe if you bought from amazon you would get free mp3 version. I believe I got one when buying the complete collection. Then if you are knowledgeable in this area, you can burn a cd from it I believe (I have never done that myself). I do not believe the lps are too cheap though. In the long run, you may just want to buy the complete collection as it is down to like $20 on amazon. I paid 22 something. eddiejinnj

Well, Amazon is updated hourly so it is not necessarily what is happening nationwide say on the Billboard chart or other sites. Is it still on Billboard's Americana and/or Country chart (any chart)? Amazon, though, is what the nations biggest retailer or something to that effect I heard? eddiejinnj

Any other chart news? Love that it was well-received internationally. I know that the sales are less in these countries based on their populations but still out of all they buy, LR original Album Series is at number 13 (is that the country or pop chart?). "Softly and Tenderly" is becoming on of those Ronstadt songs (this case the Trio) that make me a mess. It is a beautiful, meaningful song. eddiejinnj

She does gospel so well.

I need to try and edit my review of the trio collection. I had said that Emmylou recently released a Rarities album. I am not sure I remember us talking about this and ronstadtfanaz is correct that it came out awhile ago in 2007. I am not sure I can now edit the review to be accurate. I was going to add something this a.m. to it and I don't seem to see where I can edit it now. I remember there was some kind of edit button but maybe that times out after awhile. Not sure. I mean I did reference it was on an Emmylou album but was incorrect that it was recently and the exact name of the album. eddiejinnj

I was so happy to be able to listen to new Trio songs that I hadn't heard before. My favorite is Are You Tired Of Me? It's Linda's voice at its prettiest and I can't get enough of it. In A Deep Sleep is very nice, too, but a bit stiff. Dolly's Where Will The Words Come From? is also an enjoyable song to listen to, and I really like the new version of Wildflowers, although the original version with Dolly singing lead throughout is the better recording. My biggest disappointment is Softly and Tenderly, which should have been a great version. Instead, it seems overwrought, especially when Linda comes in at the end. The best newly released version of a song is My Blue Tears. It sends chills up my spine, especially on the line "for the one that I have loved, he has left me and gone." All in all, I just love the new music.

I liked "Are You Tired of Me?" so much more on the second listen and it is an excellent song. "In a Deep Sleep" is maybe supposed to have a drowsy type vocal. Nice vocal. I love "Don't Knock". It is infectiously fun. As for "Softly and Tenderly", I think it is superb. I think that Linda should have done the verse before where she comes in instead of Emmylou taking over for Dolly again. I think the contrast would not have been so marked. Her high note at the end of her solo was unbelievable though. I like that it is Linda and Emmylou at the end. I will have to listen to other versions to better judge it. Maybe I can make it through Jo and Rory's new version without losing it emotionally. It is so sad that she passed. The alternate version of "I've had Enough" I like maybe even more than the one on Trio I. The Grammy noms coming in the 14th if I am correct. Any thoughts whether they will get one? I hope so. eddiejinnj

Quote by eddieinnj: Actually, the nominations came in just this past Tuesday: www.grammy.com/nomineesBut no, there were no nominations for The Trio this time around, not even in the Americana field (where it most likely would have been), not because the release of the collection was late (it actually came under the September 30th deadline for 2016), but because the whole collection itself wasn't entirely new, just the third CD of unreleased material or outtakes. Please don't ask about the labyrinthine rules they have about such things, it would take forever to explain.
