Wow. That's cool. How bittersweet for Linda though that she won't be able to do the tour. ?

Can't view this, what does she say?? Ditto. All I see is "Your video is currently being processed. Please try back again later." So, who are the personnel for TRIO III? Dolly, Emmylou & Trisha. Or did Dolly, Linda & Emmylou have enough tracks left over to create a new album?

Three times a charm for the trio! I couldn't view the video, either. When will it be released? Did she say there would be a tour?

Let me guess, April Fools a few days early? I am remembering that Ronstadt cruise. I can't find anything on the web about Trio III and the video link does not work.

I am informed via email that Dolly said this recording will be previously recorded but heretofore unreleased recordings, and that both Emmylou and Linda have signed off on the release.

Below is the original info about the Linda Ronstadt cruise, but this info about Trio III is not an April Fools prank. A fan from Australia was extremely irritated with me because of the cruise posting as he immediately started planning a vacation:

Probably the latter. I think Trisha would have held off on such an offer out of deference to and respect for Linda.

It was an interview with Dolly P. The line up is Emmylou, Dolly and Linda. There was a supporting video. Best part was that Dolly said "it" meaning the 3 of them was the best work she has ever done or ever will do. That's a nice nod to the other 2 ladies.

Sorry the link is not working- might want to do a search on CMT site on your own. . No April fools joke. There is s dolly interview where speaks about it. As has been discussed for years there is unreleased trio material. There is no need for Trisha. Tried link again and I cannot get it to work either. Clicking on m.cmt.com/videos/1184817 I can get to the intro page for video but then I get the your video is processing message as well. What I heard on the interview was that Emmy and Linda had signed off and there would be another Trio record. No talk of what would be included but since we know Linda is no longer able to sing it must be material already recorded. Dolly mentioned nothing about a tour or anything. I wonder if maybe she let the cat out of the bag a bit early and that is why the video is not accessible now?

I wonder if maybe she let the cat out of the bag a bit early and that is why the video is not accessible now? I had the same thought, but then again Dolly makes the rules- she doesn't follow them. I am looking forward to this release very much again, as I was in 2012 when new Trio tracks were also announced.
The reason Trisha Yearwood came to mind is that several years ago, George Jones had an album of "duets" released, and it was announced that one of the duets would be with the Trio (Dolly, Linda, Emmylou). For whatever reason, when the CD was released the Trio was Dolly, Emmylou, and Trisha, and I was so disappointed that I could not bring myself to purchase the set.

Would also love to have on CD the songs they sang on Dolly's show in 1976, with my favorites being, "The Sweetest Gift" and "Bury Me Beneath the Weeping Willow."

CMT has posted an update here: www.cmt.com/news/1752741/dolly-parton-on-dollywood-and-a-new-trio-reissue/Parton’s fans may have a dream come true in the near future, too, with the possible release of unreleased recordings she made with Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. The threesome teamed up for Trio, a Grammy-winning album released in 1987. And despite a second album, 1998’s Trio II. Parton hopes to repackage the sessions with some additional recordings that have never been heard by the public. “We’ve been trying for years to put out the thing that we had in the can and repackage the things that we did,” she said. “Emmylou has been working at this for a long time. We thought it was coming out two to three years ago — actually even before that — but I just got a note from Emmy and Linda saying that they had signed off on it, and so it is gonna happen. I don’t have a date, but it’s supposed to be coming out this year.” For more country music news, tune into CMT Hot 20 Countdown this Saturday and Sunday (April 4-5) at 9 a.m. ET/PT.

I believe "When I Stop Dreaming" is one of the songs first recorded. They actually recorded a bunch before the first album ever came out that never made it onto that album. They could also pull songs where they all sang on each others records i.e. My Blue Tears. Sounds like a big hit to me. It is sure to garner lots of attention.

I hope most or all of the sessions were produced by Brian Ahearn. He is a great producer, much better than George Massenburg.

Longtime friends and admirers of one another, Parton, Ronstadt and Harris first attempted to record an album together in the mid-1970s, but scheduling conflicts and other difficulties (including the fact that the three women all recorded for different record labels) prevented its release. Some of the fruits of those aborted 1970s recording sessions did make it onto the women's respective solo recordings. "Mister Sandman" and "Evangeline" appeared on Harris' album Evangeline and Parton's "My Blue Tears" was included on Ronstadt's 1982 album Get Closer. Rodney Crowell's "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" was on Harris' Blue Kentucky Girl album. Parton and Ronstadt also recorded a version of the traditional ballad "I Never Will Marry", which appeared on Ronstadt's 1977 Simple Dreams album, though that was recorded separately from these sessions. (During this time, Ronstadt and Harris also covered a number of Parton's compositions—Harris covered "Coat of Many Colors" and "To Daddy", and Ronstadt recorded "I Will Always Love You"—for inclusion on their various solo albums during the mid- to late-1970s.) Brian Ahern produced the album, and it had a more Electric sound than the other Trio albums that would be released in 1987 and 1999. They did not agree on the sound and Linda said that Brian Ahern was controlling them a bit in a direction they did not wanna go. At the time all three of the Girls were more into Country/Rock/Pop than their later work ( the more folk acoustic sound).

I hope this project comes to fruition. I know I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I'd be interested in what the experts among us (and you know who you are) think this release would fare as far as sales, charting etc. Some recent things, Duets, the Starbucks compilation did pretty good. IMOH If this really happens I think the reception will be shocking. And by that I mean good! I hope that there will be sufficient advertising with part of the campaign being to remind those who might have forgotten just how good I and II were.
I know Linda can't tour but I wonder if she would feel motivated to do a quick promo from home-hell-I'd buy that too!!

I'd be interested in what the experts among us (and you know who you are) think this release would fare as far as sales, charting etc. In my inestimable opinion, this should be a good seller if marketed correctly and not just thrown out there to absolutely no fanfair. First off, it needs to get into retail stores- Walmart of course being the main one. Also, it should be marketed at Cracker Barrel. The first Trio album was recently added to the bins at Cracker Barrel, and it has been a big seller. Dolly is a marketing genius. She marketed her recent album on QVC, and those QVC sales put her album in the Top 10 on the Top 200 album chart-- the first time she ever had an album in the Top 10 except for the first TRIO album. I would hope they would do something like this for Trio III. I have a concept for a video also, but I suppose it would be best to actually hear the music before storyboarding a video.

Dolly Parton on Dollywood and a New Trio Reissue Her Unreleased Tracks With Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt Could Arrive Later This Year by cmt.com staff 3/30/2015 56Share to Facebook 31Tweet to Twitter More 0Comments Dolly Parton’s career longevity and success across entertainment frequently makes her a trending topic in Internet searches, especially recently with the 30th anniversary of the Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
In a recent interview with CMT Hot 20 Countdown, Parton said that Dollywood’s success has surpassed her wildest dreams.
“It’s just amazing,” she said. “It just boggles my mind. … We are in the museum right now, and every time I’m in here, it just boggles my mind. You know, all the things that have gone on through my career, but I’ve been at it a long time. It’s amazing to look around and see your whole life like that. It’s great, though.”

Regarding the theme park’s success, she added, “I had hope that it would just do well, but it not only has done well, it has just done great. It just keeps growing and, now this year, we have our resort which was a dream I had early on, too. It took a long time, but you’ve gotta stay after them dreams.”
Parton’s fans may have a dream come true in the near future, too, with the possible release of unreleased recordings she made with Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. The threesome teamed up for Trio, a Grammy-winning album released in 1987. And despite a second album, 1998’s Trio II.

My guess is it would be a finalist for Country Album or Event of the Year or even Pop Album if it were very successful. If Linda were to support it then it would be just for major media events and at that maybe just a few high profile interviews with the girls. Since her illness announcement Linda has been doing a great job at planting her legacy as a major icon and a really beloved American artist. That doesn't even include her influence in the Hispanic community which is huge already. Once the movie version of her life is released Linda will belong to the ages.

I'm not so keen on the "repackaging" part of the equation. I was hoping this album would be comprised solely of songs that did not appear on the first two volumes. Then later, there could be a "Complete Trio Recordings" with a bonus DVD including TV appearances and music videos.

The real big mystery about this project, after wondering when (or whether) it will see the light of day, is what will be on it in terms of the added songs. I ask this because, if I remember right, wasn't there a version of Dolly's "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind?" that Linda herself sang lead on?
