Quote by Linda master collector: And do you have to get what's on their menu to get the CD? Because I've only ever been into a Starbuck's once to have one of their coffees. I can't remember which kind I chose, but my throat d***ed near burned up having it! Erik, I bought just the CD and no coffee or any type of food or beverage. So no other purchase required. Hope this is helpful, Erik.

I paid $16 at Starbucks, so if you can get it from ebay for $7.99 that's great.
Makes me wonder, though, how a $16 retail new-release CD is simultaneously available on ebay for $7.99?

Finally found it in NY! It was the last one on display in the store, so maybe it's selling like hot cakes..or hot coffee. Either way, it's a real treat!!

Rick--I doubt if the Juilliard students even know who Linda is, but maybe their parents can educate them. If they play the CD in the store, perhaps she will acquire some new fans. Her voice sounds incredible on all the tracks.

I've been in Starbucks twice since this CD came out. They've been playing a bunch of Linda's songs, not just ones from this CD, interspersed with different versions of songs she's sung. A couple by Neil Young, including "I Believe in You," plus James Taylor doing "Hey Mister, That's Me Upon the Jukebox." There was a song I didn't recognize by Neil Young, with background vocals by Emmylou this morning. It's so wonderful to hear Linda's music out in public that isn't just "You're No Good" and "Heat Wave" and all her other "hits," which are the least of her music.
I wanted to stay long enough to hear her version of "For A Dancer" followed by Jackson Browne's, but it was not to be.

I'm at Starbucks right now and so far I've heard "Hurts So Bad", "Blue Bayou", and "All I Know" (the Webb/Ronstadt version!), only one song of which is on the CD, plus "Hasten Down the Wind", the Zevon version.
Wow. What's up with that? Especially considering the songs Jay mentioned above.
Maybe there's an Opus II in the works or something? I mean, I can't fathom why a corportion like Starbucks, whose policy it is to only play music that has a merchandise tie-in, would do so.
Weird. Great! But weird.
And now I'm hearing J.D. Souther's version of "Faithless Love"! I feel like I've stepped into some alternate universe...
EDIT: Moments later, Emmylou's "Til I Gain Control Again."
There must be another compilation on offer I'm not aware of. This has moved beyond coincidence.
EDIT: Now "Piel Canela".

I'm creating a compilation playlist in iTunes now, Linda's cover, then the original. Plus stuff she just sang on, like "Under African Skies."
Tracks of My Tears Carmelita Hey, Mister That's Me Up on the Jukebox Hasten down the Wind Crazy I Believe in You Birds Look Out for My Love Rock Me on the Water For a Dancer Under African Skies

That should have been Parsons, as in Gram, Eddie. Linda sings background on the chorus.

Well it all is a bit flummoxing, all this Ronstadt music at Starbucks, outside the songs on the Opus collection offered up for sale. Not only non-Opus songs, but songs with a Ronstadt connection. I mean, if someone had told me that I'd hear Linda's "Hurt So Bad" and "Someone to Lay Down Beside Me" AND J. D. Souther's "Faithless Love"—not to mention the others mentioned ("All I Know"!)—all in one sitting, I would have said they were daft.

It makes me think that someone on the team that compiles these CDs for Starbucks and designs the in-store experience is a Linda fan. I have been heartened to read the posts about how many people are buying this. I have every one of these tracks, some multiple times over. But I wanted to show my support and love for Linda by having this purchase be my "thank you" to Starbucks. I had said in an earlier post that perhaps if this is a big seller Starbucks might do a second volume, even with a previously unreleased track. I am not a Social Media person but I wonder if there are people here who are Social Media-savvy to promote this release. Another thought: I realize if someone can find this on eBay for less there is the pull and sometimes necessity to do so. I think the more units that Starbucks moves in stores, the better the chance for a sequel. I wonder if it is worth a few of is calling Corporate Marketing at Starbucks to ask why this isn't for sale on the company website.

Jay, I only have Emmylou's "Portraits," so not 100% sure. I did go to Amazon to listen to the MP3s of the song from both "Portraits" and Gram's "Grievous Angel" and it sounds like the same track/version to my ears.

Jay - I was on the Southside between 6:00 and 7:00 PM. Then there are at least two Linda fans, in different parts of Pittsburgh. She's been my favorite singer since 1976, when I bought my first Linda album Hasten down the Wind (followed quickly by buying everything else she'd put out up to that point).
