Actually I think it was circa 1972-73 which would make Linda about 26 or 27. It may even be 1971. It was used extensively between Eponymous and Don't Cry Now. I suppose it could have been taken years before and only then used but I am not sure her publicist would want to use older photos. The photo just didn't look like Linda's other photos from the 1970-74 time frame. As mentioned, to me, Linda in this photo looks to be really, really young and it looks to be from the Stone Poneys era at the very least. She looks fairly innocent in the photo, which here again, I think, would tend to suggest a very young Linda. As for her publicist not wanting to use older photos, I doubt it would've been that much of a big deal. How would a fan have known whether a photo was taken in 1966 or 1971? Of course, Linda has been known for having the long, dark brown or black hair and wearing those big ear rings during the same time frame, so it's possible the photo could be later, but she still has the look of an awfully young person.

That one with the short hair, now that is beauty! Must say, that photo just blew me away. Just so gorgeous. There was a line in a poem I remember, which says, "She walks in beauty." That's a perfect description of Linda.

I am thinking too it is from her Stone Poney days as well. Was conservatively (is that word ok to use? LOL) guesstimating her age to be 22 only because it would place that shot in the year 1968, my birth year! And that is a great year biasly speaking..er typing, imo.

Here is the "better" photo from that same photoshoot that I was talking about circa 1972: You can't tell me this isn't from the same session. Linda wore those hoop earrings at least until 1973. They were on the cover of Eponymous as well as a poster hung in my dorm advertising a concert in 1972. I would say that the photos were for press release for that album which would mean the photos probably were from 1971. Most likely the Fall or late summer. That makes Linda 25 in this photo which would have been taken just a few months before I met her.

Here is the "better" photo from that same photoshoot that I was talking about circa 1972: You can't tell me this isn't from the same session. The photos do look quite similar and may be from the same session but still, in the B&W photo, Linda looks younger than in the color photo. In the color photo, she also looks slightly more mature. Of course, the question of Linda's age may be a trick of the photography in the B&W photo, but Linda was also known for wearing the same clothing in different periods of time. The photo of Linda and Bobby, circa 1968: Linda wore that same striped dress on the Johnny Cash Show in 1969, and in her performance of Different Drum from 1968. Linda was also photographed in the same striped dress with Bee Gee Maurice Gibb circa 1968. There are a lot of photos of her in that dress from different times. I suspect that in her early days, Linda may not have had a large amount of clothing to choose from for tv appearances and photo shoots. That could account for two photos taken at different times in her career, but again, it's possible they could've been taken at the same time, and the B&W photo just makes her look younger. I think the photo was taken much earlier than 1972 - again, my guess being 1966-67 (because I wasn't there when the photos were taken), but she still had that same piece of clothing and was photographed in it.

They obviously are from the same photo session. Look at her hair in both photos. It is exactly the same. Clothing is the same. It would be too coincidental to have different sessions long time periods apart with the hair exactly the same unless it was a wig and I am sure she isn't wearing a wig. It would also be odd that they would wait until 1972 to begin to use a 1969 (or earlier) photo. That makes no sense.

OR perhaps the tv shows were in the same studio during the same time but were aired much later on at different dates OR maybe she had TWO striped dresses that were exactly the same. I have bought 2 shirts and pants that were exactly the same because I liked them, they fit well and since they were my favorites I wore them often but I would never wear them if I were on different tv shows for some talent I don't have, like singing. But if both shows were taped on the same day I would consider it I suppose. Since Bobby and Linda were friends she may have given him tickets to the show or he gave her a ride and a photo was taken then and who knows, maybe Maurice Gibb happened to be at the same studio that day as they were begining to become famous in the States around then.
I still want to see that photo of Maurice and Linda. Maurice was a funny guy. No wonder Linda liked him.

I'll concede that possibility, but as far as waiting to use an older photo instead of a more recent photo, one may think a celebrity's management would use publicity photos but it's not always the case. After Elvis started playing Vegas and wearing those 150 pound jumpsuits, you almost never saw a released photo of Elvis in anything but, and you never knew how old of a photo Parker was using for the press releases, 45 picture sleeves and album covers. You'd have to know what jumpsuit Elvis wore at every concert to know for sure as he had a large number of jumpsuits. Linda's hairstyle was in the 1960s and 1970s was pretty long and straight, although again, granted, the hairstyle in the color photo and B&W photo being discussed here look the same, along with the big ear rings and white shirt. But, here again, I think it possible Linda could've been photographed at two different points in her life, having the same hairstyle and wearing the same clothing and ear rings. It's not impossible, although short of anyone knowing for sure the B&W photo was taken at an earlier time, I'll go with the photo being from around 1972. But, Linda still looks to be 19 or 20 in the B&W photo, and much younger than in the color photo.

I still want to see that photo of Maurice and Linda. Maurice was a funny guy. No wonder Linda liked him. Well, the Johnny Cash Show was from Nashville, 1969. Where the film clip of Linda performing Different Drum was shot, I don't know but don't think it was in Nashville. As for the photo of Linda with Maurice Gibb, I think it was said it was a photo taken in Anaheim 1968. It wasn't at a recording studio as the only studio location the Bee Gees recorded in the US at the time was in New York. Linda is all sunshine and smiles and Maurice Gibb looks rather sour in the photo. I don't think he was sour because of Linda (unless he asked her for a date and she turned him down), probably just being goofy. But, he was a funny guy - there are quite a few concert video clips of the Bee Gees on youtube where he is doing his best to break up his brothers during one of their songs. He succeeded in many of them. Back to the Linda-Maurice photo, I can't recall for sure but I think it was included in the 1978 book on Linda, which had the photo of Linda in a baseball jacket and the yellow background cover. I'm surprised it hasn't surfaced here but maybe it's not on the net?

Quote by sliderocker re. "Different Drum" video:
It was at the Bitter End in Greenwich Village, from March 1968.

You can also tell by the little curl in her hair by her left...um, how do you say?...bosom (right above the pocket "v"). (BTW, that pose on the left I have as a framed picture in my man cave/drum studio at home.)

I think the look she had on the Muppets was her best look IMO. Love that yellow sweater and that face!

Yea, she looked and acted great throughout that show. From the first minute on when she arrives to the last, it was a great one!
And oh, did I envy Kermit, and empathize with miss Piggy! Linda was beautiful in that episode.
Loved the three songs she performed particular When I Grow Too Old To Dream with all the Muppets. That scene was touching.

We can probably all concur that Linda's best decade for looks was her 30s. Hmm, although that is a fair assessment, I would have to say I really dig her hippy period (when she was in her 20's) where her hair was real long and straight like the ones Erik posted above along with the other hippie period photos in this thread.

Likewise, I think Linda looked her best in her 30s but also think she looked stunning when she was in her 20s. I look at those photos and sigh to myself and wished I had a time machine, so I could live those days over again - with one slight change: being able to know Linda personally.

We can probably all concur that Linda's best decade for looks was her 30s. I would agree with that. But I like Linda's look no matter what decade or what age. She was beautiful in the '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, and 2000s.......still beautiful today. She has aged gracefully, with class........no matter what other people say.
