I wonder if Rhino knows they have a tiger by the tail, a GOLDMINE?
If done right this album could go to #1.

well so many albums do now their first week out and then most drop off. if you happen to be the quote hottest release that week, it seems so much easier to get a number one. eddiejinnj

Considering that much of this may be new material, Linda will never sing again and is more popular than ever, the Trio will never perform again plus most of the stuff out today is of lesser quality I think this album will have staying power. The Trio could do a couple of talk shows or any one of the girls could do them alone to promote the album although I don't know what their dollar vested interest would be. I do know Linda likes to talk and people like to listen to her talk so this could be a perfect marriage if she is up to it. The more she gets out in public the more she maintains the public interest in her career and catalog, her music and as spokesperson for the arts and Parkinsons.

just checked it out on Amazon. I wish it was a little less pricey as far as a potential to be a big hit. I also saw and have to go back and look and there is shorter version of this release. I wonder how this will impact individual sales of each. Just did and the one cd is $11.98 (times three is roughly $36). since the ultimate collection more expensive, I hope the record company and the ladies themselves do some promo for this. eddiejinnj

Maybe I'm being churlish here, but I was hoping for that long-rumored take of "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind?" that Linda sang lead on. But then, as the Rolling Stones once sang, you can't always get what you want.

I noticed the 1-disc version as well. I have a feeling that will be a more general wide release and the boxset will be more hard to find. A casual buyer will buy the 1-disc version thinking it is more of a 'hits' compilation with some rarities. Fans like us will go after the 3-disc set to get all of the bonus tracks and the expanded booklet which is coming with the boxset. That may be why Amazon shows the boxset as a "Limited Deluxe Edition". I would bet the single disc will be much easier to find after the release for a longer period of time.

Ridiculous. The first two TRIO albums would easily fit on one CD in the box set. The single disc version should be the disc with all the unreleased material, so those folks who already have the first two albums don't have to buy them again to get the new stuff.

The single disc version should be the disc with all the unreleased material, so those folks who already have the first two albums don't have to buy them again to get the new stuff. It would have made more sense to put the unreleased material on the single disc. But having said that, as far as the second point about already having the two original albums, it was mentioned in another thread that CD's are not indestructible and in my hands they are very destructible. So anyway I'm going to buy the whole thing-it's not exactly a kings ransom-and I'll have backup for my destructive ways. Besides, again referencing the same other thread, it'll be a couple bucks going Linda's way.

I will buy both CDs, the set and the single, because I collect Linda Ronstadt CDs. But to maximize profit, I think they should have put all the previously unreleased on one disc. The casual fan is not going to pay this amount for the box set. Even the avid fan might not pay that much for the box set when they perceive that two of the three discs are songs they already own.

Quote by Tony:
The other problem I think some might have (though maybe not others) is the so-called "alternate takes" of songs that were already there on other albums. I really don't know that this is such a good ploy.

With there being 11 new songs, maybe a Trio 3 album would have been better for release now. Then the entire boxset could have been released as a "Special Edition" collection, etc. I just hope this is not released with little to no promotion. A project of this magnitude needs press to get the word out to the public. After all, the first two won Grammy's and I was hoping this release would as well.

Quote by DollyRules:
I think Rhino will need to push this collection for it to have a chance, because I can't see them touring or promoting this without Linda; and she can no longer do a whole lot because of her Parkinson's condition.

There is more available than what is included. Linda herself said at McCabe's Guitar Shop that "When I Stop Dreaming" was one song they recorded and I see no mention of it here so there has to be others as well.

Nope. Seems to have disappeared.
Perhaps Rhino is rethinking the packaging (# of CDs, etc.) of the project.

I ordered this from Amazon and delivery was scheduled for October 16. The order appears to still be valid but if you click on the item you get an error. Amazon said that they can't see it either and its in some kind of Amazon limbo and either there are customer complaints about the item (unlikely since it hasn't come out yet) or there is some doubt as to the availability of the item. They (Amazon) said in a couple days I will either get an e-mail saying the item has been withdrawn or not-I wasn't clear as to what happens if it is still available-perhaps it will come up again if you click on the item.
I'll let you know what happens-here's hoping it's just a glitch! Meanwhile if anyone contacts Rihno let us all know what's going on.

They had the perfect opportunity to create a blockbuster album by releasing just the new material with maybe one or two released Trio songs that were on individual albums like My Blue Tears which most people are not familiar with. And then they don't include such great songs as When I Stop Dreaming that we know was part of the original unreleased Trio material. The posted album above should have been released a year or two after this third album.
This would have been my vision of Trio III When I Stop Dreaming Waltz Across Texas Tonight (Unreleased 1994) Softly and Tenderly (Unreleased 1994) Pleasant As May (Unreleased 1986) My Blue Tears (Unreleased 1998) Grey Funnel Line (Unreleased 1986) You Don't Knock (Unreleased 1986) Where Will The Words Come From (Unreleased 1985) Are You Tired of Me (Unreleased 1986) Even Cowgirls Get The Blues Handful Of Dust (Unreleased 1993) Calling My Children Home (Unreleased Acapella Version 1986) White Snow (Unreleased 1986)

Standard Rhino response .... frustrating especially as Dolly and Emmylou have mentioned it, and the CDs have appeared for pre-order with track listings (despite being pulled). Perhaps its not to be released on Rhino?
I don't care as long as it comes out - with decent packaging!

The collection is still available to order online from Barnes & Nobel (http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/complete-trio-collection/28953873?ean=0081227953706) so I am not sure what is happening. I do have a feeling we might be getting a more extensive package than what was originally advertised. I noticed that Rhino has some pretty impressive box sets which include different things, including vinyl copies, etc. Actually, I am pretty surprised they just don't wait until 2017 and release this as a 30th Anniversary collection. The problem there runs into scheduling. Whispers of this collection started back in 2007 and it took eight years to get to this point. Emmy is still touring heavily but truly has not had a solo release in quite some time. Her last two albums were duet projects with Rodney Crowell. Dolly begins production on the TV movie "Coat of Many Colors" at the end of this week. Filming should conclude around the end of September if NBC is using the typical 8-Week TV-movie filming schedule. Pre-production on her "Jolene" TV-movie has also already begun and will air next year. By the time the 30th anniversary arrives, it is highly possible both Dolly and Emmy will be prepping or on the verge of releasing their own solo albums again. I do have to admit, it is interesting watching all of this unfold!
