If only..... imagine Linda singing this great song. I love James Taylor singing it too.

Another one from The King--his #1 ballad from 1958, "Don't":
And if she had gotten together in the studio with Trisha Yearwood, here's a song worthy of a cover, "In Neon" by Sir Elton John:

One Elvis song I think would've been a good choice for Linda to have covered and released as a single:
And then there was this Everly Brothers song, that was a B-side:
And then this song by Bob Lind. I've never checked to see who was the first female performer to cover the song. Susan Jacks covered the song in 1980. Curiously, Dolly Parton covered the same song in 1983, along with another song Susan covered, We Had It All
And speaking of the version of We Had It All. It would've been a good choice for Linda too.

Decided to include this song by Susan (if I haven't already added - need to scroll back, so many posts)
This is a remake of the Elvis hit A Fool Such As I. It's from the same album that Susan's version of We Had It All was from, Ghosts. This would've been a good song for Linda to have recorded as well. Susan's version is fun and bouncy; in fact, it sounds a little like the George Harrison tribute song for John Lennon, All Those Years Ago, except that when Susan recorded this song, John was still living. Susan's album was produced by her ex-husband Terry (of Seasons In The Sun, which featured Susan on backing vocals) and it was a pretty solid album of light pop-rock and ballads. Well worth checking out. Public disclaimer: Susan is an online friend of mine. We have been friends for about 12 years. She is one of the nicest people one can meet. Next to Linda, Susan ranks as one of the best female vocalists and like Linda, she has done a lot of pop, rock and country songs. She is possibly Canada's best kept secret on female vocalists.

Another Elvis hit Linda could have done, although this may still be a bit short for her (it's not quite two minutes long)--"I Beg Of You" (the flip side of "Don't"):

One song I would've loved if Linda had recorded:
And for some reason, this song by Merle Haggard came to mind on songs I would've liked to have heard Linda sing.
Can't say I ever remember hearing any female performer doing the song. Another good reason for Linda to have done the song.
They weren't Don and Phil, but these brothers wrote a big hit for the Association, later covered by the Fifth Dimension Never My Love, but I think the hit the Addrissi brothers had for themselves would've been perfect for Linda:

Looking like Linda should have just covered everything, lol!!!!! Merle really had the brooding look down. :-) That just about would've covered everything, wouldn't it? And I suspect our lady Linda would've dissed them all in her initimable style. Actually, I would like to get a look at the list of songs Linda herself would like to have recorded, if she wrote them down and just to see if there would've been any matches between what she wanted to do, and what we fans wished had done. It does seem like we have just about named every song under the sun, although all we have done is named a smattering of songs, given the hundreds of thousands of songs that have been recorded since Linda first started recording in the 60s until her final work in 2006 with Ann Savoy. And although the covers would've been great, I would've preferred if Linda had written her own songs. When she said she could write songs but she just didn't want to add to the list of bad songs, I just wish one of her managers would've talked to her about that, and told her it would've been better for her if she had written a few of her own and relied a little less on Jackson and J.D. and the other songwriters. Linda's Try Me Again was a gem of a knockout. I would've told Linda, "Yeah, you may write a lot of bad songs, but the bad songs will allow you to know when you've written a song that sparkles. Too bad Linda didn't believe in her talent. And, yeah, Merle had the brooding look down pat in the 60s. I actually preferred his brooding photos to his smiling photos on his album covers. His album covers that featured him smiling, I kept thinking a used car salesman and someone selling furniture, trying to get you to buy a sofa for $350 they should've sold to you for $50.

I am fond of "Old Paint" and this song would have been a great companion to it IMO.

This is another Bee Gees song, but it's officially an unreleased song by the Gibb brothers from 1981. It's a country song of sorts titled "The Promise You Made." I could've seen Linda doing the song.
And then this song has Linda's name written all over it. Sung by Jann Browne, but written by John Hiatt and Jimmy Tuttle. "Where Nobody Knows My Name."

Mary McCaslin was one of the "friends" on Linda's Stone Poneys And Friends album in 1968; and in 1970-71, she did a song that might very well have been up Linda's acoustic folk/country alley:

“You Just Can’t Quit”—Rick Nelson (from his pre-Stone Canyon Band C&W/rock phase [1966-67]):
“Baby What You Want Me To Do”, the old Jimmy Reed blues standard done in 1960 by no less than the King:
