For AI, it is good. Us keen Linda fans/observers know something is up with photo but to the casual fan or someone seeing her for the first time, it is just a gorgeous pic, imo. eddiejinfl 5600

I saw the "Rhythm of the Saints" cd at a yard sale I didn't get it as I was not sure if I had it plus if I'd like it. Now if I see it, I will get it. I remember Hugh Maskela's "Grazing in the Grass". The song is almost too catchy as it is one I will sing in my head for a long time after I hear it.

I guess some have said that her delivery of it caused people to think she may not know the subject of it. I remember as a kid that I was suspect to the meaning of song but Linda does deliver it in such a pretty straight-forward way, it almost comes across too cheery and a quasi-patriotic song on the surface. Randy Newman is known for his irony. eddiejinfl

I saw a Morgan & Morgan Law Offices commercial twice in the last hour and I thought I heard ISE in a Linda-tempo in a group voice in the background at the end of the commercial. I was sure after I heard it the second time. eddiejinfl

Those words are not as pronounced as say the word aboard right before, imo. I kind of trail off singing them before starting the chorus. Welcome to the forum, H!!! Are you saying that Linda knew it was about slavery and why do you think she sang it and based on what belief, in your opinion? eddiejinfl

I believe that Rob from NJ (who I miss on the forum) agreed that she did the song (vs it being "Falling Star") at Saratoga Springs Arts Center in the summer of 1983 (probably near when Moky saw her in Boston that year). It was considered the extended or second leg of the GC tour and of course her musical course changed dramatically with the release of "What's New" soon after. Maybe Linda changed the title to reflect what the song is about (a heartbreak song). Not sure why, though, she took out the Jesus line? Maybe, again, to not confuse the real meaning of the song.

Seaview CD 104.9 out of SW Florida played "Ooh Baby Baby" about 5 days ago (I been meaning to post this for a few days). They truly play a mix of songs that are not heard anymore on other stations even oldies one in my experience. Heard "Ode to Billy Joe" and "Swingtown" as an example this morning. They stream online if anybody is interested. eddiejinfl

I think our Jersey girl, Whitney, showed her musical range in this song. I think she had too many high note embellishments and the last note where she goes back up at the very end, I think almost ruins it for me. The musical arrangement is too over the top also especially the intro to the last chorus. It takes a very personal song and bombasts it. Within the context of the movie, maybe, it makes more sense but as a non-visual personal love song that is not accomplished, imo, of course. I always thought that if there was a Linda/Barbra sing off that Linda should use IWALY as her song to blow Babs out of the park, lol!!!

Wonder what year Linda played in Cohasset? Maybe the Neville tour too? I saw The Kinks twice if I am correct. Both times after "Come Dancing" song.

You all are right in that the author should have included the fact that Costner brought it to her and suggested it for soundtrack material. I think it would have shown how influential she was to Costner and made it more real and the personal story of the song richer.

I think Linda would have done well with Rick's last entry by Billie. Other than for its smokiness at times, I am not a fan of Billie's voice. It is not full bodied like Linda's is. To each his own. Variety is the spice of life. eddiejinfl
