Even thought I have no expertise, I decided to remix the Shoop Shoop song to give it a more stereo effect: It's In His KissNow I have an idea to remix The Married Men to put Phoebe in the left channel, Linda in the right, and see how that works out.

Have you got the master tapes? Whatever the answer is No master tapes. Multi-channel mixes of many artists are available to tinker with and remix but to my knowledge none of Linda's master tapes have been leaked. This Rambler Gambler turned out very well, probably because the sparse instrumentation was easy to remove. My initial task was to take the version of Desperado that is on the Concert Behind Prison Walls CD and remove the announcer voiceover. I use a program called RX 7 Audio Editor to play with these files, but any one of the forum members can do it with an online utility. I was unaware of it but a fan from Argentina turned me on to the website moises.ai -- With this website, you can upload your sound file and separate vocals from instruments. You can apparently even isolate separate instruments. It is this website that I used for Rambler Gambler, although I also shortened the silences between phrases.

I played around with the track to get this alternate version:

You should be able to click and listen, or right click and save on your computer.

I'm not a fan of Beyoncé. Neither do I dislike her. I am just not familiar enough with her to have much of an opinion. The first time she ever made an impression on me and I thought gee she can really actually sing was when I came across her playing the part of Etta James in a movie whose title escapes me. That was very good. The only other time that made an impression on me was a few years ago and she appeared on a country music awards show. There was a lot of howling and gnashing of teeth and protesting that she was not country. Maybe she wasn't really country, but also the music being honored was not country music to my ears. What I can say is that she put on a great performance. What more could be expected? She certainly wasn't going to do her version of a Hank Williams classic.

I can see that viewpoint, jeff3. Usually I do not like these talking head documentaries, but this one was better done that most, in my inestimable opinion. The commentary footage I can agree. I would never have compared Linda to Beyoncé. The Emmylou commentary was most interesting and on target. But with a Linda documentary, there is not much you can do except patch together old footage. I would have liked to have seen Jimmy Webb and a performance of one of his songs represented. And of course a true documentary would have had the rise and fall of a career.. this ended with Linda still on top with a multiplatinum album.
But still, I enjoyed the documentary. I did not watch it on CNN as I figured they might delete parts and of course the commercials.

A biopic may not happen in the very near future, but I think it is inevitable. But I'm still waiting for biopics of Tiny Tim and Skeeter Davis.

Well, I think it is obvious that the true "reason for the season" is to boost the annual economy. Everything else is just window dressing for the annual economic boom. It's a shame that even Xmas gets politicized.

I'm sorry. You can't say "Merry Christmas" anymore. I doubt there is anyone here who has ever been attacked for saying Merry Christmas. I have, however, been lambasted (once) for using the phrase Happy Holidays. So now I confuse them with Happy HolyDays. This was a fine general Merry Christmas thread. Why'd you have to bring up this nonsense?

I'm a fan of both Linda and Kinky. She has made many great albums. He has made a lot of mediocre albums. I didn't see the point of reviewing these two together. They have nothing in common.

I can't call myself a "fan" of Carrie Underwood (certainly I don't despise her thought), but she did a great job on Different Drum at the RRHoF. And I thought she did well on When Will I Be Loved at the Kennedy Center Honors. I did not like that arrangement of Blue Bayou, and probably would have preferred Trisha Yearwood, who does the song already in her concerts.
If anyone wants a copy of the Kennedy Center Honors to keep, email me and I'll send you a download link. Let me know if you want the entire show or just the Linda Ronstadt portion.
