I'm not too terribly surprise about this. Even though she may have been a little bit overplayed on the radio last year, she was also still a stand-out in a sea of a lot of mediocrity (IMHO).

The second-biggest album of 2012 was Taylor Swift’s “Red” (Big Machine), with 3.1 million sales. It is also the top album on the latest weekly Billboard album chart, compiled from sales in the week that included Christmas, selling 241,000 copies in that period.

While I am not enamored of her material, Adele is a gifted vocalist, and seems a down to earth and likable person in the interviews I have seen. I am far from sold on Ms Swift however, and think she has a lot of personal and professional growing to do..... millions of people disagree with me, to be sure...

I didn't think albums or cds were in vogue anymore. I wonder how they account for all the other media sales for the same product?

Quote by robertaxel re. T-Swift: Yes, she's got a lot of growing to do, and not that long a time to do it (IMHO). Maybe the possibility of playing Joni Mitchell onscreen might force it out of her. Or maybe not.

Hopefully Lindsay Lohan won't be her role model of an actress.
