I saw Olivia on The Voice last night. I thought she did a decent job on the cover, but not quite the caliber of Linda. It was nice to hear that she named Linda first as one of her inspirations. Her father is a music producer, so I'm sure he has had an influence on her exposure to various artists. Long, Long Time has had a huge resurgence since it was introduced on 'The Last of Us.'

Considering that this is the second time in four months that a contestant on The Voice has gone with "Long Long Time" (Ruby Leigh did this in November of last year), it is kind of gratifying to see this song getting such attention. It does seem like this is a go-to song for this show for some reason, especially seeing that Linda recorded this song 54 years ago.

Contestant sounded great. After 50 years still singing her recordings

Welcome to the forum, Pete FL. I, too, think it is great that LLT is getting the attention it deserves. It is a classic. eddiejinfl

God I hope they don’t do to “Long Long Time” what they have done to Leonard Cohen’s song “Hallelujah” which was major overkill for me. . I can’t even listen to the damn song anymore no matter WHO is singing it. The second it comes to my ears I must turn it off or leave the room. It was the damn singing contest shows that did it too! Just cause you hit the notes does NOT mean you are bringing the song to life. That’s the biggest mistake of these shows. They confuse the two. And the listeners buy it.

Quote by MokyWI:
It can indeed become a problem, as too much exposure can limit how much one can take of the song, as well as this tendency that these voice competition shows have to encourage contestants to outsing/outshout one another. It's no wonder that Linda herself dismisses such shows (though, ironically, she did befriend American Idol's most famous album, Carrie Underwood, when Carrie honored Linda at the 2019 Kennedy Center Honors). As Linda once said, "Competition is for race horses, not artists."
