Don’t want to spoil anything but over the end credits of the series finale episode of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” the song is a sound-alike version of “Girls’ Talk.” I wish the producers had been able to get the rights to Linda’s version itself. Arrangement is a copycat. The music in this entire series has been great.

Arrangement is a copycat. The music in this entire series has been great. Wonder why they didn’t use the original version. Who said no and why? Oh wait, pretty sure it comes down to $$$, or maybe they wanted a hipper artist. They do play more up to date music at the end of the show even though the show takes places in the early 60’s. If so, why choose a version so close to Linda’s? Linda’s arrangement is very 1960’s sounding to my ears.

The artist is hipper above? I wasn't going to say anything because I believe in if you can't something nice don't say it all whenever possible but I find this version uninspired and kind of bubble gum pop. Just saying, lol eddiejinnj

The Dave Edmunds version (recorded 1978, a year before Elvis's own version) was in the pilot for "Mrs. Maisel." I always assumed that Linda knew Elvis’s version before she recorded it but the timing (Elvis released his March 1980, a month after Mad Love) indicates that she knew the Dave Edmunds version. The Edmunds arrangement and vocal are closer than Elvis’s to Linda’s version. www.stereogum.com/2225021/tegan-and-sara-girls-talk-dave-edmunds-cover/music/

Well there ya go, it wasn’t Linda they were after. The only thing I will add -- and I am not the one who makes the decisions about such things -- is that if you watch this last episode of the series, and Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator of the series, it's very much about supporting women and the feminism. Again, without saying anything about how the series ends, it makes sense that it would be a female vocalist or female vocalists. Maybe I am missing the point here, but I don't see how this duo's version is an improvement on Linda's version. But, perhaps Irving Azoff wanted too much $$$ for Linda's recording. "Maisel" is an Amazon-produced series and Bezos/Amazon have a lot of moolah and certainly no expense was spared in the production of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel." So, who knows ?

All I know is I love the show and wished they had used Linda version. Maybe with all the hype from “Long,Long,Time” and The End Of Us they decided to not overkill by using Ronstadt’s version. That might well come off as Ronstadt overkill at this current time. Timing is important. So maybe it was a wise choice.

I get what you are saying, Moky, but as far as I'm concerned no amount of Linda music exposure is not overkill to me, lol!!! I feel this way as she has bee underappreciated historically music-wise and has had far too little radio exposure considering all the hits she had and an extensive catalog. Erik always discusses how LA turned its back on Linda especially given how important and influential she was/is in the LA Music scene beginning in the very early 70's.

Just to set the record straight so that no one will misconstrue, it's the radio station programmers here in L.A. who have basically turned their backs on Linda. Her fans and peers here haven't.

The main thing that irks me is that they didn't even mention Linda's version in that article. Whatever determined their choice to use Tegan and Sara's version in the episode, Linda's cover should have been acknowledged.

The version they used was like a lame karaoke performance of Linda's version.

The version they used was like a lame karaoke performance of Linda's version. That's my opinion, too. And "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" has been known for using really great music throughout its run. All I can think of is that Irving Azoff wouldn't license it to Amazon/Amy Sherman-Palladino.

It’s also possible that the creators chose the T&S version to show LGBTQ support.

You might have hit the nail on the head, Rob. I don't know anything about them. I didn't read the article but Linda not being mentioned is not cool. It was on a huge album. I remember for months the Billboard album chart was "The Wall" Number 1, Billy Joel "Glass Houses" number 2 and Linda's "Mad Love" Number 3. What a trifecta, lol eddiejinnj
