January 14th is out because they were going to Seattle for a gig at the Paramount Theatre on January 15th. They would had to have sound checks in Seattle during the day of January 15th. There is no way they could have done a concert on Monday night in Santa Monica and be in Seattle the next afternoon. Also January 14th was a Monday, so it is doubtful there was a concert on a Monday night. There probably never was an actual Maria Muldaur/Bonnie Raitt/Linda Ronstadt concert at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, or anywhere else. I don't recall Henry Diltz or anyone else say that this performance was an actual concert. Henry Diltz's date of January 14th is probably a typo.

A full Bonnie-Linda-Maria concert in 1974 would have been too big an event to fly so low under the radar--no reviews, no audio or video, not even that many photos onstage. More likely, Bonnie and Maria visited Linda backstage and she brought them out for one or two songs, maybe one of her encores. Maria was the most successful of the three chartwise at that point with Top Ten single “Midnight at the Oasis.” An earlier and very different Trio--just imagine that album.

Yes, Rob, one can just imagine what a great album the three of them could have done. eddiejinnj

I think I may have the answer to the Santa Monica Civic Linda/Bonnie/Maria question. After trawling through various Facebook sites I have found out from people who actually attended the event Jackson Browne & Linda played two shows at the venue on the 11th January 1974.It was on the second evening show that Jackson & Linda played their sets & then Linda,Bonnie & Maria performed together & then Bonnie called Tom Waits up to continue singing with the girls. On looking again at the ticket stub for the Jackson/Linda concert at the venue it does appear to say ‘Eve’ for the second show. I’ve found a large set of photos from The Orpheum Theatre,Boston leg of the Jackson/Linda tour on the 1st.March 1974 which show Linda in the white blouse of the Santa Monica show but with different trousers & low & behold a picture of her in pink & white checked shirt quoted as being from same venue that I posted earlier in the thread as being from Santa Monica concert.I don’t know if there were two shows at Boston as well but Linda probably wore different outfits for the first & second shows of both concerts. Some of the Boston photos are posted below.

Good work ukfan, especially “Eve” on the ticket, I missed that. I’m convinced.

To me that sounds very plausible ukfan. Calling up fellow musicians in an audience is well-known, Linda was herself, and Gram Parsons, during a Byrds concert (there is a YT audio of that). Tom Waits (& Lowell George) have played with Bonnie.

Maybe they should have included the "DD" singing into mic pic on the Duets packaging. It is priceless to have such nice pics from that day. eddiejinnj

One of the comments on this page (from 6 years ago) mentions that Peter Asher had recently had an estate sale. The commenter says that he bought an 8x10 of Asher that apparently had been taken by Diltz. Wonder if there was anything Linda-related for sale.
(Great photo of Linda, BTW. Love the Laura Scudder's snack bag on the counter.)

The above ‘late 1986’ photo of Linda on Johnny Carson show in her gorgeous purple dress from the Riddle era was originally aired the 23rd January 1985.She sang three songs on the show When I Fall In Love,You Took Advantage Of Me & Skylark.Unfortunately the interview has long since been pulled from YouTube but thankfully the last two songs have now reappeared after being removed ages ago.
