I think Sally is a solid actress who is getting recognition which is several decades late.. Countless actresses would be more than happy to have 'Norma Rae'; 'Sybil' and 'Places in the Heart' on their resume.. and a young Sally would have been an ideal candidate to portray our Linda, IMO

Good interview Rick, thanks for posting. I really want to see this movie. She really fought for that part.

I saw the film yesterday, and yes, Sally gives an extraordinary performance as Mary Lincoln. Indeed, that entire film is a marvelous epic from start to finish, with Daniel Day-Lewis giving a sterling portrait of our 16th president, and Hal Holbrook and Tommy Lee Jones in support as the two Northern congressman that Honest Abe needs to prod Democrats into supporting the 13th Amendment that would abolish slavery forever.
Spielberg has done it (yet) again (IMHO).

Isn't this Sally's second time as Mary Todd?

Isn't this Sally's second time as Mary Todd? Ronstadtfan, I think you MIGHT be thinking of Mary Tyler Moore, who played Mary Todd Lincoln opposite Sam Waterston in a made-for-TV movie.

The way sally describes her feelings of mary todd and wanting to play the role.. is how Linda describes her music or songs she has recorded, the songs tug at her or they choose her she doesn't choose them. Reminded me of Linda's description

.. and a young Sally would have been an ideal candidate to portray our Linda, IMO I think so as well although Linda and Sally are only five months apart in age. But, I always thought Sally looked a little like Linda and thought those two could've been a case of sisters separated at birth.
