A really sad thing to happen, as we all thought she would reach the magical 100-year milestone.

I truly thought she would live past 100, manage to make it to the ages actors Olivia de Havilland or Norman Lloyd made it to. She was well loved by many within the industry, and I know one channel had planned on honoring her on her birthday. Guess now it will be a memorial to her.

Guess now it will be a memorial to her. slide, my memory is that her 100th birthday celebration was planned as an event in movie theaters around the U.S. (and maybe elsewhere). I heard today that it may be revamped. My hope is that it will be something on one of the broadcast channels instead of a streaming service or only in theaters so that more people can enjoy the tribute to her. One of our local TV stations just shared a Tweet β

Love The Golden Girls, I watch a few episodes in bed each night - itβs like a funny, comfortable friend. It makes me laugh, helps me sleep and I know the script off by heart now.
Betty was also great in Hot in Cleveland, Lake Placid and The Proposal and it was great to see the wonderful career she had and the rapport and relationships she shared with Ryan Reynolds, Sandra Bullock and other actors.
I love the tweet about how great it was that she knew she was loved while she was alive, such a great sentiment and we should make sure we do this more often.
RIP Betty and thank you for being a friend π

Steve Martin Tweet (Linda-related) β I saw Steve's tweet and thought how lovely it was, but just had to wonder if Betty and Allen were Linda fans or if they were just having a night on the town? I'm betting on them being Linda fans. Or maybe they were neighbors or something?

Betty has said that one of her favorite songs is 9 To 5 and one of her favorite artists is Dolly Parton, so I wouldn't be surprised at all to hear that she's a Linda fan. Dolly and Linda go together (musically) pretty well.

Loved her, of course, in Golden Girls and the more recent.. "Hot in Cleveland," with Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick & Jane Leeves.. I also remember her On The Mary Tyler Moore Show as Sue Ann Nivens.... I was watching T.V. Land and they are doing a tribute for Betty White with Golden Girls & Hot in Cleveland Marathons.. There was one episode of Hot in Cleveland where the show reunited all the big stars from The Mary Tyler Moore Show, including Betty, Mary, Valerie Harper, Cloris Leachman &Georgia Engel.. the characters used different names and it was really funny how they interacted. using punchlines as they once did on MTM but as different characters. .. I then realized all of these women are gone.. It was sad.. Betty White seemed like such a sweet lady.. Big Fan.. RIP.

I was, soooo, hoping she'd make her 100. I know it is only 100 but it seems a lot was/is scheduled to commemorate her. I will miss her. May she rest in peace!!! eddiejinnj

PBS has a series called "The Pioneers of Television." Yesterday (Saturday, Jan. 22) it released this video of Betty White. At least to me it's interesting because she was there doing TV literally from its beginning. She talks about how her local L.A. program went national and she had on as a regular a man named Arthur Duncan. Duncan was an African-American man known for his dancing. He later on to work on "The Lawrence Welk Show" for years. But Betty got pushback from the network that stations in the South didn't want Arthur Duncan on the show, and she didn't fold. At any rate, in this video, at about 20 Minutes, 43 seconds in, she talks about meeting Allen Ludden.
