Even when Linda was at her apex, at this particular point in her career, she was creating a certain amount of chart havoc:
1. A hard-edged version of "Tumbling Dice" becoming another favorite with her fans, even though it would eventually stall at #32.
2. An ultra-traditional Appalachian folk ballad ("I Never Will Marry") about to become a sizeable country hit for her (in fact, her final solo Top 10 C&W hit)
3. "Blue Bayou" being a big hit in Mexico in both English and Spanish-language versions.
This is by no means to say that what she was doing was calculated in any way, because I don't think that was ever how she thought of her career or her music. It just happened that way.
