Will this turn out to be a nothing burger as far as new releases? I figured we will probably see Linda's songs placed in commercial settings before seeing any new product.

Hey Alyn: Where you been bloke? We missed ya!!!! Well, especially the f-bomb being used in Linda's name as if it is her middle name. It's just a form of odd respect one uses talking to friends not in professional journalism. Hopefully, they will start doing projects/releases right out of the gate and we will worry less about the deal (though technically it is Linda's catalog and life but we all want the best for her). eddiejinfl Eeyup Eddie all well over here in the land of Boris The Joke thank you :-) Yeah I kind of get that with the expletive middle name.... I do. I shouldn't be so old fashioned.... I clearly have double standards though as I remember laughing out loud at Linda's outburst on the live FM show from My Father's Place in 1974 where she states that she was told not to use the words 'sh*t, f*ck or brassiere'... I just listened again as I couldn't remember the exact show, and it is a Quality Moment, the band's reaction behind her is great :-) All well with you Eduardo?
Linda jokes, swears, blows her nose, and sings great!

<snip> The Beach Boys and Linda Ronstadt went a step further by each parting with the rights to their name, image, and likeness, meaning the bulk of the money generated by T-shirts, tote bags, potential biopics, and Broadway musicals will no longer go to them. <snip> The Sudden, Lucrative Gold Rush for Old Music / As the giants of classic rock contemplate retirement, music execs are dreaming up increasingly bold new ways to eke value out of their brands, images, and back catalogs

Good article rick.
What I don't like about Linda's deal is "went a step further by each parting with the rights to their name, image, and likeness, meaning the bulk of the money generated by T-shirts, tote bags, potential biopics, and Broadway musicals will no longer go to them."
This just applies to Linda for me, and seems like a personal exploitation white card, for the private person she is, and as a woman. Also it seems she might be potentially depriving herself or her estate of future income, and what is the truth of her character and life, which in this era of biopics particuarly, may have been a rash decision.
Dylan & co. may be less violateable, or could care less. Linda, due to her illness, is also very vulnerable, I hope she was not persuaded against her earlier-self's better judgement.
I would not want to see a biopic, but a hologram concert with Linda actually singing might be an interesting experience.

I for one don’t really want to see biopic, unless it is well written, directed and done with an actress/singer that will do justice and I doubt very seriously that would be done. As far as a hologram concert, NO WAY! Those are so damn cheesy as far as I am concerned.

Just by the title, I think, I have the right vision of a Hologram Concert. I agree 100% Mike! Yes, it would be difficult to see someone else play Linda so I agree also with your comments re: a biopic, Mike. All have a great day!!! eddiejinnj

As far as a hologram concert, NO WAY! Those are so damn cheesy as far as I am concerned. I'd like to see a biopic movie on Linda and as you say, well written and directed, and with an actress-singer who would do justice to Linda. There's a problem, though, and that is given Linda's long career, unless the bio-pic aired on TV, whether over the air or cable, each Linda era can't be covered in a two hour bio-pic. People also don't like superlong movies. The movie studios also don't like superlong movies. So, what part of Linda's long career would be glossed over or barely mentioned? Any bio-pic on Linda, I'd want each era covered, and I'd also like if they did a juxtaposition on Linda's celebrity persona contrasted with the private person she is. There's no telling on how Linda's celebrity status may have intruded into her private life in ways she did not want. She makes the point of saying marriage was not for her, but I have always took her comment with a grain of salt. As a life long single myself, I've always been asked why am I still single. And I tended to say the same thing as Linda. A stock answer. but not the actual true reason. Linda had the Marilyn Monroe image going and there's no telling how many of her boyfriends were intimidated by that.Marilyn was never able to stay married, and I think a good part had to do with her ex-husbands married Marilyn the celebrity and not Marilyn the person. There's no telling how deeply hurt she was. And that may have played out in Linda's love life as well. The men she dated were in love with Linda the celebrity but maybe not Linda the person. But, Linda would probably not allow her private life to be brought up in any bio-pic, although in all honesty, it wouldn't hurt for part of the privacy of her life she guarded carefully to be part of a movie. Her private life likely contributed something to her celebrity life in some way? Like I said, however, a bio-pic on Linda could not cover her career of 40+ years in two hours. And any actress playing Linda would have to be at such an age where she could play Linda at 20 and Linda at 60 and odler, and be believable. And given Hollywood's penchant for making a mess of things, I really don't think they could do justice to Linda. I'd like to see a bio-pic but I know Hollywood would just bungle it. So, no is my thought on any such bio-pic for now.

I've always loved Linda the person. Her personality comes across to me in her voice, singing, song choice, interviews & its written all over her face and character.
Linda's true and only love is "the music". She said only guys sharing her passion interest her.

Was hoping something might have happened under this deal by now …. I keep forgetting to mention it, but I found Greatest Hits (Volumes 1 and 2) on gold and silver vinyl at on my way back from the break room at Walmart a few weeks ago. I'm assuming it has something to do with promo for the book. We only had one copy, but I bought it because I figured it'd be restocked soon. I keep checking the employee app and haven't seen anything implying it'll be restocked. Oops...
