Happy Birthday, Linda! I will always remember our conversations, and the grace and kindness you showed with your time and your help for my two interviews with you. I enjoyed every minute. Amid these uncertain and challenging times, I only hope that I will have the opportunity and the honor to have another conversation with you in the near future and maybe even meet you as well. Have a wonderful day with your family....you deserve it! Stay safe and take care!

What were you an infant, Pop? :-) I would have liked to have seen her in the Park. I have walked around the theater when I was there. I got tickets for Pirates at the Uris for a HS graduation gift. eddiejinnj

Haha, Eddie! I basically lived at the Delacorte that summer and got front row seats for many of the performances. It was worth waiting on line all day in the Park, rain or shine. It was also the first time I met Linda, so that was a thrill! I saw Pirates countless times on Broadway also--I guess I was a 'groupie' but I'm grateful for all the fun times and the treasured encounters with Linda.

A belated, happy birthday to my beloved Linda. Hoping she had a good birthday and that family and friends were with her to celebrate her life and shower her with unending love. I have nothing of value to give her as far as a gift is concerned, other than my own unending love for her. And my wish for a cure for her illness. I believe all illnesses can be defeated, but it's just our focus on finding cures is money based, rather a concern for the people whose illnesses are a threat to their lives. It doesn't do much good to find a cure for an illness on which the cost is so high, people can't afford the medication. But, to my beloved Linda, never give up on a cure because there is a cure. I'm certain of that. Happy belated 74th, Linda. You are the song of my heart. Love ya.

She calls her, Mom? Cute!! I have heard of Maria and the group through Linda!!!! Another influence she has had. eddiejinnj
PS: They did a great remastering job with "Rock Me on the Water". That is one album to have head phones on to listen to.

Quote by eddiejinnj:
Well, in a sense, Linda is a musical mother to a lot of female artists, including Maria. Maria was just lucky (not to mention gob smacked) to run into Linda in what was the most unlikely of circumstances.

It would seem that Maria is around my age; maybe older. If she was 20 in 83 she would be 57. Technically and most importantly nurturing wise Linda could be her mother. I thought it cool; I just never heard McKee say that before. Trisha is in her 50's. I thought of Linda as an older big sister kind of thing. Hey, as Linda gets older so do we lol!!!! eddiejinnj
I looked it up - Maria is 55!!! 74 and 55 that is a generational difference, imo!!!!!

Quote by eddiejinnj re. age difference between Linda, and Maria McKee:
Well almost. Linda's birthdate is July 15, 1946, at the beginning of the Baby Boom; Maria's is August 17, 1964, at the tail end of it.

Belated (on my part) entry to this birthday thread, but here is what alt-country/Americana singer/songwriter Margo Price put on her Twitter page on July 15th to mark Linda's birthday:
Margo Price @missmargoprice
happy birthday Linda Ronstadt, they don’t make um like you no more... if I was on the road right now I would play “you’re no good” in your honor 💜
"They don't make um like you no more.". That is so true (IMHO).

And one more Twitter post from July 15, this one from Caitlin Rose (her mom, Liz Rose, co-wrote some of Taylor Swift's earlier hits):
Quick reminder that today (her birthday) and on all other days: Linda Ronstadt is my president.
It's always instructive to remember that it is younger singers like Margo (who was born in 1983) and Caitlin (who was born in 1987) who are carrying the torch and the tradition that Linda helped set down at the apex of her career between 1974 and 1990.

Still one more for Linda's birthday, from a songwriter she has covered many a time:
Jimmy Webb @realjimmywebb Happy Birthday to the one and only Linda Ronstadt! 12 Grammys, an Emmy, a Tony nom, 2 ACMA's, a Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, a Golden Globe Nomination for Pirates of Penzance & 30 million albums sold in the US alone. #LindaRonstadt 12:00 PM · Jul 15, 2020·Twitter Web App

I know that Jimmy Webb's heart is in the right place but to honor her by listing her awards...we all know how Linda feels about awards--that first Grammy left in the back seat of the rental car.

Quote by RobGNYC:
Since it's unlikely that Linda looks at Twitter, I think Jimmy's "tweet" was aimed at those Twitter viewers who either have never heard of Linda (admittedly not likely), or have forgotten about her (which is entirely possible). That we know how Linda feels about awards, when it comes to this particular birthday tweet, is kind of immaterial (IMHO).
