Hello again. Here are several outstanding audience tape recordings of LINDA that are on youtube.
One might think, ah rats, what a bummer, I am just not gonna listen to a crummy low fidelity audience tape of such a great vocalist. I want to hear only FM broadcasts, videotaped television broadcasts or perfectly mixed board tapes.
We all understand that unlike Bob Dylan for example, where a slightly distant but clear audience tape of Dylan is preferable since the natural echo/reverb of the venue and the low fidelity quality seems to actually capture the best possible "Dylan sound" capture. High fidelity and supreme clarity actually makes Bob less tolerable in my opinion. Unlike Dylan, great singers like Linda are most enjoyable when that is captured in supreme clarity and the highest fidelity possible.
The following audience tapes are of the highest quality that was attainable at that point in time and given the venue and seat location are nearly on par with a live FM broadcast. This means that the following audience tapes of Linda are the best quality that you could possibly get from a quality tape recorder and quality mic from the audience. They are from 1st Generation tapes -OR- from the master cassette. They sound pretty good. I think you will enjoy listening to them.

SEATTLE 1976 video with good audio
Here is an otherwise good professional recording at Budokan '79 EXCEPT FOR TAPE SPEED PROBLEMS.
My ear says this tape as presented in this youtube upload is JUST A TINY BIT SLOW for the first five songs (at least for those first five songs..)
It Doesn't Matter Anymore (song #6) seems closer to accurate, but I stopped listening after just a portion of It Doesn't Matter Anymore.
IF YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO ADJUST THE SPEED AS NECESSARY after you capture this Budokan '79 recording from this youtube upload, then you will have a very high quality recording with a good mix and good clarity.
My suggestion for someone for getting the first five songs adjusted to the perfect speed needed, would be to use WHEN WILL I BE LOVED for your ear to listen to that and slightly increase the tape speed of WHEN WILL I BE LOVED so that it sounds as it should.......the others among the first five will be correct I think if you do that because the speed seems stable and consistent , just SLOW for those first five songs. I have not listened to the entire tape yet, so I cannot comment on whether or not the rest is also off-speed or near accurate. I have captured it from this youtube upload, but I haven't yet produced it for my own personal use to listen at home or in the car. As a simple test, I did dump the capture on to a very high end tape deck with a simple round knob to +/- the playback speed.
I did check the first five songs. As I mentioned previously, this Budokan 3-3-79 youtube upload will sound nice once you dial in the perfect speed.
Unfortunately, with bootleg tapes, bootleg LPs and copies of official commercial LP's and official commercial release tapes, you are dependent upon the speed accuracy of the playback equipment, as well as in the case of live tape recordings, the accuracy of that deck because whatever the case may be, the playback speed of the live tape must be the same as the deck it was recorded on......................in the real world.....tape decks and turntables are often just a tiny fraction off and thus speed errors can sometimes be increased with future generations of that tape. Digital provides speed stability but whatever and however it was presented when converted/uploaded is how it will be.
