I always like the name "Evie Sands" for some reason. She was a little before my time to be big on my radar. I think she had one hit right? Trying to think of it before looking it up. eddiejinnj 4900
PS: After looking, maybe, I know her as the original artist for Chip Taylor's "Angel of the Morning" that Juice Newton later did.

Song of the Week – I Can’t Let Go, Evie Sands; The Hollies; Linda Ronstadt November 11, 2017 by Tom Muscarella rockremnants.com/tag/evie-sands/Today’s SotW is another installment of the “evolution series.” The featured song is “I Can’t Let Go” that was written by Al Gorgoni and Chip Taylor. (Not to be confused with the great Lucinda Williams tune with a similar title.) Gorgoni was a NY based session guitarist that played on hits for everyone from the Four Seasons to The Shangri-Las to The Monkees and Van Morrison (and more). Taylor is most famous for also writing “Wild Thing” and “Angel of the Morning,” an odd combination, I know! He’s also lesser known as the brother of Jon Voight (and uncle to Angelina Jolie).

No one has mentioned Merrilee Rush. The definitive “Angel of the Morning.”

I only mentioned the song as a kind of aside to the original topic. I was just looking for a song of Evie's I heard of. Maybe the pre-Juice version I know is Merrilee Rush (whom I am sorry I have never heard of) ? eddiejinnj PS: Happy Thanksgiving, y'all

Linda also did Angel In The Morning but it is a different song....with Yanka Rupkina and in the World Music genre. There are two versions of that song with Linda.

Angel of the Morning and Angel of Montgomery--two beautiful songs. I'm not familiar with Angel in the Morning.

Angel of the Morning and Angel of Montgomery--two beautiful songs. I'm not familiar with Angel in the Morning. "Angel of and Angel in" seem to get confused in both songs but on the Keranka album it is Angel In The Morning I knew of the Merilee Rush song but didn't know Juice Newton covered it.

Linda did what version of both songs? She did the world music song that is not that same as the Juice Newton song. As the vid is posted above. What other version did Linda do? This began as a comparison of the versions of "I Can't Let Go". Hope all are safe and watching the impaired drivers out there,.

eddiejinnj There are two versions of Angel In The Morning that Linda recorded with Yanka. The album version (Keranka) and the one I posted. The album version doesn't introduce Linda into the song until the two minute mark. It might have been that the original song was edited to create the shorter version with Linda upfront. Both versions are nice but I prefer the longer, more celestial version. That being said I love both versions. This is one of dozens of 'odd pairings' Linda has done over the years. And lucky for us she has so many.
It would be nice to hear people's "REACTION' to the two versions since this is a reaction thread.
Here is the album version just after 20 minutes into the album
shorter, edited version

Here is Merrilee Rush’s “Angel of the Morning,” which was all over the radio when released in 1968 (it seems to me that “Different Drum” and “Angel of the Morning” might have been played close together ) —

Life is like.... has never been a song that I warmed up to as far as the music. It has a good message as far as lyrics. This is one I'll have to check out and see if others did it and compare. I've done that with a few songs and then I see how say difficult it is and Linda has been my choice for the song after all. The only one where I would say it is a tie is "Louise". eddiejinnj
