I'm not bashing this generation (I prefer to bash 80's music though) . One of my favorite pastimes!

'DOH' (smacking self in head) - I forgot to promote a great candidate for playing Joni.. someone who is an amazing singer and songwriter and admits going through a 'Joni Mitchell phase'

I'm surprised they didn't get young Dakota Fanning to play the role as Joni, IMO, I think the role should go to a good actress rather than a singer. Dakota played a real good part, as Cherie Curry from the movie, The runaways. Granted a much different role than what I imagine for Mitchell, but IMO I think she could easily make the transition to the mitchell role.

I thought Dakota and especially Kristen Stewart were good as Cheri Curry and Joan Jett respectively... surprisingly so, in fact..

Wasn't that a theme song to a Dracula movie? As a pop music fan I liked Disco too. It unfortunately devolved into terrible club music and left the spotlight (or at least my spotlight).
Ha Dracula? no clue, rob. I don't get today's music.. I'm okay with the 80's.. but after around the mid 90's, I too went into "rocking chair mode." lol
Found it:

Since we're throwing in some good singers (Joni like) well, she isn't so much Joni style (except the guitar and she writes her own songs and she blonde & female.. lol anyway, here is another gal who doesn't get as much credit or airplay like I feel she deserves.

Though they are different stylistically (Crystal having some grittier blues and C&W influences), I think Crystal could very well fit the role of Joni. She probably knows a fair amount about J.M.'s style (IMHO).
