Quote by Dianna:
Yes, we indeed felt it here in Pasadena. It was as your mom said, a rolling motion that lasted about thirteen seconds. The epicenter was situated near Searles Valley, about 180 miles north-northeast of Los Angeles in the Mojave Desert. As can be seen on TV, the communities of Ridgecrest and Inyokern are the most affected, with injuries and damage being reported; but fortunately, those aren't too severe so far as we know.

Twenty minutes ago (8:20 PM), we got hit with another quake, centered in the same area as yesterday's quake (near Searles Valley)...only larger: a 6.9.

Yes, they upped it to 7.1; and it looks from it that Ridgecrest took an even worse hit, given that the epicenter is almost right under them in the same relative vicinity as the one they had on Thursday.
I would suspect folks have seen the video of people's backyard swimming pools with the water violently sloshing around, even flooding whole patios. Even at last night's Dodgers game, they felt the shaking in Dodger Stadium, all 50,000+ I might add.
