THIS is how to sell the simple beauty of a song (and also shows the tender side of Randy Newman)

And the unfortunate thing of it is, they don't allow for this kind of subtlety on Idol. If you're a woman and are not screaming at the top of your lungs like a banshee, chances are they're not going to want you around. And Linda can do that too, quite well, I might add! If she were a contestant, she'd win hands down.

Yes, this should be required viewing!
Never watched American Idol, nor will I anytime soon, but sadly I know that sometimes they feature an artist for the contestants to "sing" (ruin) their songs. I believe they did McCartney, Elton John to name a few. If they ever did a feature on Linda, I think those contestants (word used lightly) would be quickly weeded out. Linda definitely set the bar on how it should be done!

Maybe this should be on a different thread. but speaking of AI.. did anyone watch last night I love this girl.. BUT she will NEVER make it to the top 24 or top 10 for that matter. Sad because I really like her singing.. check out what she says to seacrest at the end. LOL

Dianna, I saw her!! She was fantastic! Usually my wife and I will only watch the first few episodes of Idol for the people that can't sing. I mean, the REALLY bad ones. I was really taken aback by her though! She is pretty talented. But, you're right, she unfortunately won't make it. AI seems to churn out (IMO) bland garbage that is all over the radio and all sounds the same. She's too "different" to be a finalist. And frankly, that's OK. I'd rather see a musician stick to their guns then let their art be perverted into the awful awful crap (IMO) that is modern Top 40 radio.

I know .. sad.. I love love the original song she sang and performed.. It's like I've heard it before.. she kind of reminds me of K D Lang.. Honestly, when I first saw them speaking to this performer, I thought it was a dude in a red dress. I wasn't even too sure when she was performing. Putting that aside, it was one of the few memorable performances of the night. I enjoyed the Turbanator also. I don't think he'll go far unless he gets rid of the turbans though. And then with his gimmick gone, his voice may not be enough to keep him in the game. I am not enjoying the act that Minaj and Mariah have going on this year. I think it is staged drama, and I hate staged reality shows.

At first I thought she was a boy too.. or transgender I did check out some other vids of her and you can tell by her "natural female" curves.. she's a girl. lol and her speaking voice is deeper.. much like jodi foster's.. still female.. lol

They obviously put those two together to gin up the ratings, which are down from previous years. Beyond that, though, the pairing really doesn't make any sense; and I don't think either one can fairly judge any contestant who is not within their musical preference or style.

well, they have keith for country there to balance things I suppose There seems to be a lot of negative things being said as far as nicki goes, the audience does not like her.. she'll either up the ratings or help finish off the show.

I'm not even sure about Keith Urban's presence there either, to be perfectly honest, though maybe they saw something in him as a judge that I don't (I guess I don't care for his voice, is what it is).
As for Nicki Minaj--her abrasiveness will obviously divide people along the "love" and "hate" lines, and the show could probably withstand this one season with her and Mariah. But if they're both there in 2014, then forget it (IMHO).

I understand these judges get A LOT of money to sit there and entertain and for their own exposure.. that's what it is.. not so much judging.. they must be getting more than they would be touring an album.. which, the 3 do fairly well on tour.. I imagine, the bigger when it comes to ticket and album sales . Must be nice!!!

As I said earlier, for some reason I've heard kez' song before or something similar. I was unloading the dryer and humming her wandering song.. then I connected it to this song.. lol they are similar.
