John McCain, Arizona senator and Vietnam war hero, dies at 81 abcnews.go.com/Politics/john-mccain-arizona-senator-vietnam-war-hero-dies/story?id=52287138This happened so soon after the family released a statement that he was discontinuing his treatments for brain cancer. This is very sad. I had the utmost respect and admiration for John McCain, even though I am a Democrat and didn't always agree with him on certain issues. But he was an honorable and decent man, which is much more than I can say about our so-called President. McCain was a POW in North Vietnam for more than five years and was severely tortured and beaten. Trump has no idea what this man went through and has shown absolutely no respect for him or his service. I respect all veterans and thank them for their service to our country. But I have a special place in my heart for Vietnam veterans, as my dad was there as well. He saw a lot when he was there, and I'm sure he didn't care to repeat it. I wouldn't be here today if my dad had not come back home, so it was truly a blessing. As a senator, McCain liked to get things done. I was very happy to see him give the "thumbs down" on repealing Obamacare. Of course, we all know about his disdain for Trump and the "war of words" they had more recently. I hope there will be someone like McCain who will step up and call Trump out and not be a hypocrite like so many of them are. McCain was truly an American hero and will be missed greatly. RIP John.
