Just took delivery of this CD yesterday. Linda gets the lions share over the two CDs with 6 tracks, 23 minutes. First of all the quality is not great, it is like listening to the festival through a small transistor radio, but actually... I quite like that in this instance.
There is a lot of chatter from DJs and introductions etc which adds up to a kind of whole festival set and I find that if you close your eyes, it is just like listening to the whole thing on the day. A good set from Jackson Browne, includes Gary US Bonds and some backing vocals from Bruce Springsteen, and also James Taylor's set is good as well, for a short set it is songs you would want to hear. The whole thing degenerates somewhat with the traditional (for this kind of festival) ensemble singing which is a kind of 'you had to be there' feel. Linda's set is: Tumbling Dice / Blue Bayou / It's In His Kiss / Desperado / Heatwave / Back In The USA. For me, that's a great set of tracks and a really balanced session. It's In His Kiss is nicely raucous, with Rosemary Butler & Nicolette Larsson, it's the first time I've heard this in any of her live recordings, and I've only seen her do it on The Muppet Show, and it sounds really great. The uptempo tracks really rock along and Linda is hollering at full effect - in your mind's eye you can really imagine her 'ripping it up'. So, all in all... worth having despite the sound being down at at 6 out of 10 for me, based on other live recordings, but for quality of performance I'd give it a 9.

That tiny dynamo of 5' 3" shows up even more when she's next to a long string bean like JT :-) :-)

Quote by Dianna:
I think that's exactly what fooled a lot of people throughout Linda's career: Nobody thought that someone that petite, let alone somebody with one of the biggest cases of shyness and stage fright of any pop music performer ever, could possibly have that big and athletic a voice.

Few realize how short Linda is if they only know her from her photos. She started out with long, gangly legs which in photos made her look taller. Many of our very artistic types are actually quite short so when you see them standing next to each other in photos their height isn't so obvious. I always thought she was 5'2" which is just a couple of inches off of being considered a "little person." A hundred years ago, American women had ranked as the fourth tallest in the world at 159 centimeters (5 feet 3 inches). Now, they stand as the 42nd tallest in the world with an average of 163.5 centimeters (5 feet 4 inches) which is still quite short on average. I recall Playboy referring to Linda as "the mini-siren."

I based my reference to 5' 3" as she says she is that height in the intro to Falling In Love Again at Yokohama when she is having to consider jumping up to get on that pesky moon :-)
