two new non-musical projects for 2012. 2012 is almost over.
There is a project that I wish John Boylan would work on. He was the producer for the "Linda Ronstadt" album from 1972 that featured a few live recordings from the Troubadour. I assume there are at least a couple of complete live sets of Linda from the Troubador. These should be unearthed and released as a new album-- or the "Linda Ronstadt" album could be reissued with bonus cuts of an entire Troubadour set.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Boylan now serving as Linda's current manager? I thought I'd seen some comment to that effect when she announced she had announced she had retired from music, and he wasn't quite as willing to say she was actively retired. Likewise, I'd love to see a live album on Linda from the Troubador but I assume those tapes would be owned by Capitol, and they'd have to work out some sort of arrangement with Linda for any release. Linda probably would not want a live album from that time released or from any other time, for that matter - unless she has softened up on her musical past.

I really wish she would soften up a bit on her past, especially when it comes to live performances. It's easy to cruise in the studio, but you are really tested in front of a live audience; and certainly those crowds at the Troubadour that saw her in the summer of 1971 were extremely supportive.

It may not be her totally. I'm sure Capitol would expect there would have to be a minimum number of sales to consider justifying a release. If that was met, then it would just be getting Linda to agree and then how much Capitol would have to pay her in the way of an artist royalty. Of course, if Capitol thought she couldn't meet the minimum number of sales, it wouldn't matter as they wouldn't release anything. But, I'd be willing to bet they could meet any sales expectations, whether it was a live album or unreleased studio recordings.
