Very nice TEXFAN.. Never seen this one Back in the day when Linda was a bare footed, free spirited soul. Wished I could've known her personally then. Might have been easier back in the day prior to "Heart Like a Wheel," when doing things like her laundry meant going to the laundromat. I've always wondered how a beautiful but shy homebody with the singing voice of an angel managed to get herself out of her house to sing at the clubs and bars and record?

I think the overwhelming need she had to voice who she was, even though it meant being in front of anywhere from a few hundred to tens of thousands and being the shy person she was, was the driving factor. And while we know she didn't mind the money or the prizes, the overwhelming need to express herself superseded all else for her. As she said at the time she got her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction: "If you're working for prizes, you're in trouble"

As she said at the time she got her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction: " If you're working for prizes, you're in trouble" Ironically, I think she was like a lot of singers and musicians, in that they too were pretty shy people in ordinary circumstances, yet something within them caused them to override their shyness to make the music. I don't think there's ever been a psychological study about the driving force behind some of music's best known success stories, and their shyness factor. It would be a fascinating subject for a book. What made them shy and how was it that music was the force that liberated them from their shyness, if only for a while?

I think this photo really demonstrates classic Linda from "heart like a wheel," era. . I'm not a guy but even I can see it lol..... It's probably close to Linda's "Heart Like a Wheel" period. Looks like an outtake of sorts, but Linda's hair length fluctuated between being long, longer and shorter between the "Silk Purse" photo shoot and before HLAW was released. I'd place her age in the photo as about 27, which would've been about the time she was recording HLAW. But, even during that time, she still wasn't a wealthy person as she wouldn't have seen any royalties from "Don't Cry Now" until any charge backs for that album were paid back. Charge backs were the nasty little secret in the music business in which the artists are charged for everything associated with the recording and release of an album. And the buy back of any unsold copies. The rock band Scandal had a nice one dollar royalty for albums they sold but CBS also tagged them with charge backs. Their album "The Warrior" sold a million copies, but by the time the charge backs were paid back, the group was left with about $100,000 to split between themselves after their manager or managers took their cut. Much as I despise Garth Brooks, he was wise to the record business' thieving ways. He insisted on a royalty to cover the costs of recording and release of albums and the buy backs. Another little curio is that aside from shyness, many artists were naïve about the business side of their career. Horror tales were already well known by the 60s and artists should've educated themselves about the business side before signing any contracts.

My guess by way of hairstyle would put this more in the Prisoner in Disguise time period. Maybe a photo shoot idea for album that was never used. 1975

The first pic. I'm guessing is Naomi Judd, but not sure who the guy is? And the second pic I'm guessing either Naomi or Wynonna? You can click on the links a second time to blow up.

Quote by TEXFAN 0: I may be mistaken (not out of the realm of possibility), but I think the first pic is of Linda with her longtime sideman Kenny Edwards and backup singer Liza Edwards. The other one is likely Linda and Liza:
