I remember the first time I heard this guy, I thought he was created in some mad Nashville scientists lab He must've had a twang as an infant ;D www.tmz.com/2012/08/08/randy-travis-threatened-to-shoot-kill-kill-troopers-mug-shot-black-eye-dwi-arrest/Randy Travis Threatened to SHOOT, KILL ... Cops Say8/8/2012 8:11 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF Randy Travis threatened to shoot and kill the troopers who arrested him for drunk driving last night ... this according to the Grayson County Sheriff's Office. The GCSO tells us ... officers received a call at 11:18 PM from a person who stated there was a man lying in the roadway. When cops arrived to the scene, they noticed Travis' 1998 Pontiac Trans Am had driven off the road and slammed into several barricades in a construction zone. Travis was initially arrested for DWI -- but once he was inside the cop car, officials say the singer threatened to "shoot and kill the Troopers working the case." As we previously reported, Travis was NAKED ... and rode bareback while he was being transported to the station. When he arrived to the jail, cops gave Travis a shirt to wear for his mug shot ... and a paper suit to cover his man parts. Travis is sporting a black eye and cuts in his mug shot -- injuries we're told he suffered when he crashed his car into the construction zone. Travis was charged with DWI and retaliation for making the threats. Travis is currently in custody. 8:45 AM PT -- Randy has been released from custody after posting $21,500 bail

Well, so much for country music being a paragon of "family values" when one of their own threatens law enforcement.

Well, so much for country music being a paragon of "family values" when one of their own threatens law enforcement. and not only that, drinking and driving, which I'll never understand, risking others. When this happens they must lose any form of reasonable judgment because I cannot wrap my head around why anyone would do it.

In his case singing and driving should also be illegal.

Obviously a concealed weapon.

Obviously a concealed weapon. That would make him a woman! I think Randy needs to get out of the closet but I understand how difficult that is in his line of work. I think it would go a long way to solving his personal problems although it might be at the expense of his Country Music career. One would hope his threats wouldn't be taken so seriously but drinking and driving is a big no no. I have never understood the appeal of alcohol but if you are going to do it then drink it responsibly.

If you end up naked and drunk on a convenience store floor.... then you just might be a redneck!
Sorry, couldn't resist

One would hope his threats wouldn't be taken so seriously but drinking and driving is a big no no. I have never understood the appeal of alcohol but if you are going to do it then drink it responsibly. In redneck states like Texas, filing charges against someone who threatened to kill the police officers while drunk and naked is just piling it on when they don't need to do it. Sure, he made a threat but he made it while intoxicated. Would he have made the same threat while sober? I doubt it but the name of the game here is to increase the fine Travis will have to pay or jail time he will have to serve if convicted or both. Tecas has been smarting ever since Willie Nelson beat the rap on the marijuana charge a few years back when a Texas Highway Patrolman found him alseep in his own vehicle. Curiously, I think Nelson was busted around the same area as where Travis was arrested. Once Travis sobered up, I'd bet he didn't even remember making the threat or being naked in public. I'd also be willing to be he's cringing with embarrassment right about now and probably will be for some time.

case in point:
Rick Springfield DUI case ends in reckless-driving plea deal Rick Springfield at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, right, and in a booking photo taken later that day. (Handout, left; Katy Winn / Associated Press, right. / May 1, 2011) Also Jessica Simpson's dad, Joe Simpson, arrested on suspicion of DUI Photos: Celebrity mug shots Bobby Brown plea deal: DUI case settled, except for the probation By Danielle Paquette August 10, 2012, 12:20 p.m. Rick Springfield has wrapped up his DUI case by pleading no contest to reckless driving, thereby avoiding time behind bars related to a 2011 arrest in Malibu.
The "Jessie’s Girl" singer, who was pulled over May 1 of last year for speeding on Pacfic Coast Highway, will serve three years' probation and attend a three-month alcohol-education program, the district attorney's office said.
Springfield, who did not attend Thursday's hearing, was allegedly driving with a blood alcohol content of .10%, which exceeds the legal limit of .08%. Earlier that day, he'd appeared at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books.
Much like Randy Travis allegedly threatened to shoot and kill the officer who arrested him on suspicion of DWI earlier this week in Texas, Springfield reportedly threatened to kill a sheriff’s deputy if the officer had his classic 1963 Corvette Stingray towed. But authorities downplayed the significance of anything the pop singer might have said.
"Drunks say things all the time, and they say things that are ridiculous, notorious and vicious to cops," L.A. County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told the Ministry in May.
"Our job is to get them off the street so they don't hurt other people. We don't take whatever they say seriously. It is rare that we get someone on a DUI that isn't abusive."
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Quote from AP article: Like Mel Gibson and his anti-Semitic rants to another L.A. County smokey in Malibu once? That may be even worse in my opinion as it shows deep seated prejudices and a really ugly side of Gibson's personality whereas Randy was just being stupid drunk and pissed at authority for the moment.

Quote by ronstadtfanaz:
With R.T., the fact that he has had run-ins with the law of this sort even before this one seems to be wrecking any chance of him being as relevant to country music today as he was to it in the late 80s, before all the "hat acts" (led by one Garth Brooks) stole the show.
With Mel Gibson, though, he has always had far right-wing prejudices, far worse than most, what with the anti-Semitism he was accused of showing in THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, and his racist views of the colored guy in the White House. The booze just makes him even more of a bastard (IMHO).

Quote by ronstadtfanaz re. Gibson & Obama: He couches those views of his on Fox News in very typical and coded GOP talking-points terms, but anyone with a functioning brain would know he's got them--drunk or sober.
