I was reading Carole King's memoir entitled A Natural Woman. Its good reading and provides a lot of insights/history of the pop musical world from the mid 50s through the 70s. Though I was hoping she would say more about Linda than she did, I was happy to see her pay a nice compliment on p. 256. Here she recalls J.D. Souther as, among others, rock singer and companion of Linda who had writen one of her favorite songs (Faithless Love) and speaks glowingly of Linda's performance of FL (with harmonies by JD) on the Heart Like a Wheel album.

I think they are old friends. I recall a photo of Linda, Carole and then Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano going door to door together at election time here in Arizona. How I wish they had knocked on my door. Can you imagine?
