Mike Curb obviously has connections to Linda (1) Helped her produce the 3rd Stone Ponies album (2) Was Lt Governor of California when Jerry Brown was Governor the 1st time, and (3) Mikes has Mexican heritage like Linda.
Well I was listening to that great ballad "Burning Bridges" at the opening of "Kellys Hero's" and said to myself, "wow, that sounds like Linda's voice really standing out in the Mike Curb Congregation!
The M.C. Congregation seemed to be rotating group of singers (in which no names were mentioned) which were regularly featured on the "Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour" and since Linda loved to sing backup for a lot of different people, I would think it would have been no problem for her to help out Mike on this movie score?
Here's one of the links and if you listen at 57 seconds, when the girl starts out with "Joey" you can really hear a Linda-esque sounding voice!

Actually, I believe that Curb produced two early singles by the Stone Poneys in 1965, "Everybody Has Their Own Ideas" and "So Fine", prior to them meeting up with Herb Cohen and Nik Venet and subsequently getting signed to Capitol. However, I am fairly sure that their involvement with Curb went no further than those two singles.
Also, while it is just possible that Linda is on some Mike Curb Congregation recordings, methinks that she and Curb are very far apart otherwise, ideologically and musically.

My "Linda Ronstadt" radar isn't hearing Linda in that song (which I like) but I have been wrong before.

I don't hear Linda whatsoever. I remember the Mike Curb Congregation appearing on the Andy Williams Show performing "Burning Bridges" but aside from Mike Curb himself on piano, I don't remember any of the names of the performers who were part of the group and might have gone on to greater things. As far as ideologies are concerned, I think that while Linda was fairly conservative in those days, she would still have been at odds with Mike Curb on anything political. And on the music, Mike Curb was responsible for ending MGM Records. He wanted only acts that would appeal to entire families and not performers who were hippie types or artists who did drugs. Producer Jimmy Bowen was not one who spoke fondly of Curb. Bowen had signed Stevie Nicks to MGM and was planning on building her career up when Curb purged the label of all rock acts, including Stevie - and keeping acts who might have gotten lucky and had one hit record before disappearing forever into the musical fog. Curb was one of those executive types who managed to survive the damage he caused by starting up a label-less label that he named after himself and got the real record companies to release the recordings of his artists. Perhaps that was the safest thing for him to do. But, Linda on "Burning Bridges?" I don't think so. Curb would've dropped her in his purge. There was a different song with the same title that Glen Campbell recorded and released which I thought Linda as a solo performer should've done back in those days as it was right up that country road she wanted to be on.

I'm a perfectionist when it comes to sound and video on my 8 y.o. HP w/Vista. So I got 5.1 analog speakers and I can really hear her voice separated out, since hers totally stands out even in a chorus (I've said before Linda's voice is a chorus by itself, but will fully admit I could be wrong)! Just saying, most folks have stereo speakers or those real tinny speakers that come with laptops and may not be able to hear it.
Heard on another Y.T. blog that Jerry and Mike were actually friends (even though one was a Democrat Governor vs Republican Lt. Governor) going way back long before even Stone Ponies days? So maybe Linda knew of Jerry back then???

I thought the voice floating to the top sounded like it could be Linda.

In those days Linda was a jobbing singer, she would sing to buy supper. So if Curb was paying, she might have joined his Congregation. As he had helped her & tge Poneys in the past, Linda might have helped as well.
