just read that Bob Welch once a member of Fleetwood Mac who found greater success as a solo artist has died. Shot himself in Nashville. 66 and in failing health.

D***n! It has really been a bad year for famous folks, and we're not even halfway through it yet.

It is a shame when anyone feels they have to kill themself to cure their problems or take their pain away.

Sad, Nicks and Buckingham played on a couple of his solo albums after he left the Mac, sweet considering the fact that they replaced him in the band.

Yes, but I think the alternative is a slow death as an invalid, and evidently he didn't want his wife to have to suffer through that any more than he wanted to suffer through his own pain.
People need to decide for themselves what is best. Sometimes it does make sense. We can put an animal to sleep to avoid the pain but it is illegal for ourselves.

Yes, the morality of the times (or is it "The Other Side"?) is deeply sickening (IMHO).

True. But the fact that he wasn't even inducted with the rest of Fleetwood Mac into the RRHOF in 1998 really embittered him, and, I think, rightly so, given that it was his presence in the band that helped turn them from a British blues outfit to a West Coast group even before anyone had heard of Lindsey and Stevie.

It is a real shame that so many musicians from our generation need to define themselves and their worth through a sham of an organization like the RRHOF. I think that place has done more harm than good and should be avoided at all costs.
