Here's some mentions of Linda by guests on Howard's show from the past year, found on the marksfriggin website:
David Crosby 5-18-2015
David said he once gave some weed to Linda Ronstadt and she called up later asking if he had put acid in it because the stuff was so strong
Jerry Springer 11-3-2014
Howard asked Jerry about being the Mayor of Cincinnati and what it was like giving out keys to the city. Jerry said he was only 32 at the time and he did give out a lot. He said he thinks they ran out of keys. Howard said he gave one to Linda Ronstadt. Jerry said he had a story about that. He said they wanted to bring music to Cincinnati and they had this stadium that was only being used 88 days a year. He said he wanted to bring concerts to the stadium. He said the whole town council was against him. He said he called Linda in part to get her to do that. Jerry said that he asked her to come and host the outdoor rock concert. Jerry said she was the nicest she could be. Jerry said she got them to the Eagles. He said this was in 1978. He said they had 60,000 people packed in the stadium from morning to night. Jerry said they had Eddie Money, the Steve Miller Band and others there. Howard said that must have raised a lot of money. Jerry said it did. He said this was August and they had Astroturf. He said it was brutally hot during the day. Jerry said the deal was they weren't going to sell liquor there. Jerry said they set up showers around the field and it was the largest wet t-shirt contest. Jerry said the concert went on without a fight. He said it turned out to be great. Jerry said he got to sing with the Eagles there. Howard asked if he can sing. Jerry said he sang the whole thing.

Wonder what Howard Stern was really thinking about LR. Years ago, i think its still on youtube, he made some really gross comments about LR`S weight and her in general. Apparrently he didnt like some stuff LR said to his sidekick Robin on a talk show. So he got down in the dirt and gross. He is the gross one

That whole imbroglio between Linda and Robin, which happened on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Stern's subsequent on-the-air attacks on her, happened twenty years ago; and it's a subject I would rather not get into.
But if I am not mistaken, H.S. did come to her defense when she openly voiced support for FAHRENHEIT 9/11 on the stage of the Aladdin in Las Vegas nine years later.
Isn't entertainment a strange business? (LOL)

It sure is a strange, fickle business. I will drop the topic although I could go on a rampage about HS'S horrid remarks. What a jerk, a A-hole,a piece of Sh**t, done!!

I was going to say, I bet that is where the photo of Linda pouring the "Hinee" over her head onto her silk top during a daytime outdoor stadium show on the Living in the U.S.A. tour but then Brown said no booze so I doubt Ronstadt was going for some nip.
Was in audience for that Tonight Show taping. I was so mad I felt like a mama bear!

I've never been a fan of Howard Stern, and I really hate him since he trashed Linda. These days he and Robin speak oh so kindly of her--especially since her Parkinson's diagnosis, as though that stunt never happened and they never made asses of themselves.

I didn't know they spoke highly of her now. Thanks Belle. It goes to show how people do change and grow and basically mellow out with time. I am very glad to hear that.

Quote by rumba: "The Waiting" That's the show, I think, where at the end of the song, Leno came up to Linda and whispered "better than Tom" at which point Linda looked embarrassed and kinda shook her head. Really cool moment!

Richard beat me to the punch but it still doesn't answer what she sang on Leno that night. Are we sure it was the Waiting?

Moe, that was the Letterman Show you are thinking of: Thanks for posting that. Wished I liked her version better there. Sounds like she's yelling to me. I haven't heard the studio version- much different?

I haven't heard the studio version- much different? Linda was if nothing else queen of dynamics. From loud and powerful here and for example "High Sierra" and the Mexican stuff to almost sotto voce on her lullabies and going to both ends on "Heartbeats Accelerating" Really music is too personal to be right or wrong. Basically if you don't care for a particular tune then to you, by definition, it sucks. I personally like the loud stuff, the soft not so much. At least with Linda loud or soft she was always in tune (recognise that this is someone with imperfect pitch judging someone with perfect pitch-But then again who knows-my memory ain't what it used to be either)

Full lung power on this one, for sure.
Reminds me, power-wise, of the way John Fogerty sings. Even on the ballads he sings with his pneumatic capacity.

Very true. In Linda's case, though, she has full knowledge of knowing how to do this kind of belting properly (IMHO).

Anybody know who is the handsome male backup singer in the vest for the Letterman "The Waiting" appearance? He's not one of Linda's usual ones.

That is the illegitimate son of Stern and Givens.

Since the Tonight Show incident, I've heard Howard speak very kindly about Linda. He was actually shocked that she wasn't already in the Hall of Fame when her induction was announced. He also seemed genuinely saddened by the news of her Parkinsons diagnosis and has complimented her singing and supported her after the Vegas incident. He's grown up in the last 20 years. He does THE best celebrity interviews and as a fan of both Linda and Howard, I would love it if he could somehow get her on his show. Never going to happen, I know...
