Post by Tenderness Only OK on Jul 3, 2015 21:04:54 GMT -5
On the strength of Ronstadt's glowing reviews and ravings at the Delaware "Show & Tell" about Souther's new CD, I bought the last two of his CDs (many of his 70s-80s CDs are out-of-print). I thought "Tenderness" was only "OK" - but the one before it "If the World Was You" was really good. Any others with the same (or different) views. Since Linda is a professional, I can only assume my impressions were off.

I thought "Tenderness" was only "OK" - but the one before it "If the World Was You" was really good. Any others with the same (or different) views. Since Linda is a professional, I can only assume my impressions were off. Not necessarily. Linda has always been close to J.D. and that closeness may not make her the best judge of his new material, regardless of whether she is/was a professional. No two people are ever going to hear an album in quite the same way. One may think it's the greatest work the artist has ever done while another person may think it average or below average. There are fans who aren't objective and who think everything is a work of art and they get down on those who disagree. Apparently, one can't be a fan if one dares to say something bad, but they can be. Don't assume your opinion is wrong. After all, there are many Linda fans (myself include) who disagree with her assessment of her pre-Big Band recordings being no good.
