I'm just excited Linda was so high on the list already! Made me smile seeing her almost in the top 20!

I cast my vote for Linda although I am always leery of these online like/dislike polls. Does the dislike votes take away from the like votes? Or does it have no bearing at all?

I was vote # 2222! It's a sad day when Madonna gets more "vocalist" votes than Linda Ronstadt...
Few on that list have her range and vocal quality. Whitney Houston I'd place 2nd, I loved her voice--at her peak. Aretha Franklin would be 3rd. Mariah Carey 4th (biggest vocal range, loved her earlier stuff, not so much the "Christina wannabe" stuff. Ann Wilson should be much higher.
Lots of good singers on that list.

Quote by Belle: Certain people are either tone deaf or fans of semi-pornographic pole dancing, I guess. But, the votes in and of themselves don't mean much beyond the fandom tastes of the voters. More Madonna fans voting doesn't mean especially a lot as the thumbs down votes indicate there's more of them than there are thumbs up votes. The thumbs down vote is more puzzling as one doesn't know the reason for the thumbs down. Is it really the music or are there some other reasons? Linda has 2227 thumbs up votes but 3914 thumbs down votes. Stevie Nicks has 4225 thumbs up votes vs 7058 thumbs down votes! Can anyone figure out that insanity? Almost all of the artists have a thumbs down vote that is larger than their thumbs up vote which I think could be that it's because those who voted for the artists who are higher up in the polls voted thumbs down on others just so the others won't catch up to their favorites.

I just wish they could have done away with the "thumbs down" feature, just made the voters vote for their favorite, and leave it at that. Doing it this way just seems to skew everything seven ways to Sunday (IMHO).

I just wish they could have done away with the "thumbs down" feature, just made the voters vote for their favorite, and leave it at that. Doing it this way just seems to skew everything seven ways to Sunday (IMHO). It's also possible to vote more than once, although you can only vote once for each artist per visit, whether it's a thumbs up or a thumbs done. That gives the site an "American Idol" feel, something I don't care about either as I think it should be one vote per artist and that's it. Another thing which bothered me is certain artists have more than one entry. I found two for Debbie Harry, one for Ann and Nancy Wilson as individuals, as a duo and as Heart, almost the same for Agnetha Faltskog and Frida Lyngstad from ABBA, except there's no duo listing for them. That's repetitive and it's unnecessary. With Ann and Nancy Wilson, I can't think of any song they've done where they sang together, as far as lead vocals are concerned. They have contributed harmonies to each other's songs but still, they were not singing any song as a duo. Likewise, with Agnetha and Frida, in ABBA, they did contribute duo lead vocals in addition to solo lead vocals, but they did not do all of the lead vocals in ABBA. Agnetha's ex-spouse, Bjorn Ulvaeus usually had at least one lead vocal per album and even Frida's ex-spouse, Benny Anderson, took the lead vocal for one song (and had some additional lead vocals on unreleased songs). And in that sense, perhaps ABBA should not be listed since the vocals were not all by the ladies. They also have the Mamas and Papas on there although they had few songs where Cass and Michelle had solo turns. Cass should've had a listing for her solo but I don't recall seeing one. Michelle had solo records as well but here again, I don't remember seeing any listing for her and the site is missing quite a few female performers.

I gave thumbs up and down to those I liked and didn't and then I ended up doing other polls, just did the thumbs up and left the thumbs down as it would have taken me all night with the rubbish on those lists.
Good to see Linda up there but I am also glad Mariah Carey was #1 as her voice is also flawless.
I'm liking her new single 'Infinity' :-)

well to be honest we will have to see how her voice fairs over the years. she is just 45 rt and had a major vocal flaw around Christmas. whitney is number 1 on the poll we discussing. where is Mariah number one? didn't even know Mariah had a new song. eddiejinnj

well this is not a list that includes every female singer ever popular. just the top 100. I can think of petula clark, helen reddy, brenda lee, connie francis not on list. am happy that linda is now number 19 ahead of Madonna. it seems that the number on the right which linda has a 61 must be the percent of likes vs dislikes or something to that effect. she is above Madonna though Madonna has a some more likes than her but Madonna's number on the rt is 60. eddiejinnj

Just ck'd now number 17. As they say in Chicago vote early and vote often!! (No offence to Chicagoans) On serious note I noticed that the website requests location info. I don't know if this amounts to anything or is common practice.

I'm from Chicago and I tried to live up to my reputation, but I can only click up or down once for each singer (I upped a few besides Linda).
#16 now!

Well it seems the positions are moving up and down a lot. Mariah Carey was at number one while I was voting.
Mariah Carey has always been my favourite singer and she's the singer I measured everybody else against. I became a fan of Linda Ronstadt just before Christmas last year and I'm slowly working my way through her albums. I'm up to 'Hasten Down The Wind' at the moment.

rt and I think it is cool like I said before that you are going through and listening to linda as if new. you will find her a very special person and voice. she is a unique star where artistry comes first and she is very kind in sharing her talents with other artists most notably ones many never heard of. she is very modest and complimentary to other artists. eddiejinnj

these things are always more of a popularity contest rather than actual talent.... many of these people should not be in 50!
