I've been a fan of Linda Ronstadt for only a short time, the next album I am about to start listening to is Heart Like A Wheel so you can see I have a long way to go with her albums. I think the power and the control that Linda has with her singing is absolutely outstanding. I get so frustrated when I hear today's female artists and their lack of vocal ability, to me they seem to "talk" rather than sing. Ren Harvieu is an English singer from Salford and is due to release her 2nd album later in the year. Her debut album Through The Night was released in 2012 and reached #5 in the UK album charts. The power, control and also the old fashioned way of singing that Ren has reminds me of Linda's. I listened to a lot of music on 2012 and Ren's album was by far the best album I heard that year. I play it regularly. 'Do Right By Me,' 'Walking In The Rain' and 'Summer Romance' are three in particular I would recommend anyone to listen to. Here's a few links that might interest people... Open Up Your Arms (official video) Do Right By Me (live on Jools Holland) You Only Live Twice (Accompanied by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. Conductor, Robert Ziegler.) Nobody Does It Better (Accompanied by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. Conductor, Robert Ziegler.)
Hope people enjoy this young lady's voice

Thanks for posting. I am not familiar with her, but I enjoyed listening to these songs. I appreciate that she doesn't insert inappropriate show-off screaming and caterwauling into each performance. On the singing competitions, it seems that is the gold standard.

I'm glad that you enjoyed Ren's voice Tony. I strongly recommend anyone to buy her album. Here's a few more videos people may enjoy. Walk On (live at the Shepherd's Bush Empire) River (live at The Ruby Lounge in Manchester) Play The Fool (live at Bush Hall, London) The Train Song (official video)

I also liked her version of the Rolling Stones' Sister Morphine

I wasn't familiar with the song until I heard Ren sing it, great version though. I met Ren in December last year after seeing her play at The Ruby Lounge in Manchester. She seemed very nice and was more than happy to sign my CD album for me. (I was pretty tired that day after being in work early and looked quite scruffy with needing a shave so I avoided getting my picture taken with her, but next time I'll make sure I'm clean shaven and look respectable! Ha ha)
