Maybe it's because of her politics and being a supporter of that wingnut Ron Paul

Not sure why others would be reticent to sing with Kelly C. She has a really powerful voice and is a legitimate talent. Maybe it's because of some of her song choices in the past. It seems that Carrie Underwood is the only Idol alum that has really been embraced by the mainstream.

Kelly is on Trisha Yearwood's latest amalgam of new songs mixed with newly recorded versions of Trisha's hits.

I wonder who she is talking about? Maybe the newer pop stars.. or divas who shall remain nameless.

Quote by rick: I am not inclined to buy into that for two reasons. One is that the most likely scenario, in my mind, is that I seem to remember her having some kind of a run-in with Clive Davis a couple of years ago over the release of an album of hers. Things may have gotten in the press that reflected badly on Kelly; and at least some of her fellow performers may have started to perceive her (rightly or wrongly) as a Diva in the most extreme sense of that term. Two is that, as far as I'm concerned, if people are avoiding her just because of her politics, then that is pretty pathetic of them, not of her (and, if I remember right, she ended up voting for Obama instead in 2012). I would say likewise for anyone who didn't want to work with Linda because her ultra-liberal politics didn't mesh with theirs. I would say that I am not exactly wild about Kelly's song choices or styles, but that doesn't mean there isn't validity in them, or that she can improve with time. And even if it isn't necessarily reflected in her music, Kelly does have a fondness for Linda, and was, like a lot of the rest of Linda's fans and peers, distressed by Linda losing her voice to Parkinson's, as she recounted here: news.iheart.com/articles/n-a-447391/rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-12240100/" It's just such a shame...I grew up on Linda Ronstadt. My mom, that's her favorite singer. I love her, and...it's a shame with something that debilitating can happen to someone. Honestly...it just sucks."

As for her politics, I do know that when the 2012 race was heating up, Kelly Clarkson was very vocal about being bummed that Ron Paul was not on the ballot. So were people like Barry Manilow and Willie Geist of "The Today Show."
I was being kind of flip about it. Who knows why people don't want to record with her?
As for Clive Davis, I seem to recall that for a number of years that the "American Idol" winner had a recording contract with Clive Davis' label as part of the prize. I believe part of the deal with the finalists was that Davis had the right to sign finalists who did not win "Idol." For quite a period of time, it seemed there was a lot of ring-kissing of Clive Davis on "American Idol." Those days seem to be over now. But I would imagine that Clive Davis might not have allowed Kelly Clarkson to record the type of material that she wanted. I don't know that Clive Davis is so influential nowadays that he could prevent other singers from recording with her. There are so many artists out there now that I am sure if Kelly Clarkson wanted to she could find someone willing to record with her.

I read about this a few days ago. While I am not personally a fan of Kelly Clarkson's voice I give her credit for not acting like certain other female singers who are popular at the moment.
I only watched one season of American Idol and that was the one where Mariah Carey was a judge (as I am a big fan of Mariah Carey) and there were three brilliant singers who made it to the final 10, they were Kree Harrison, Paul Jolley and Amber Holcomb. Kree Harrison came 2nd and I think she is releasing her debut album later in the year. I liked her first performance of 'Up To The Mountain' a lot.

I read something on my news feed, it was Reba M defending Kelly and it also mentioned (not Reba the article) her weight gain and people not wanting to work with her. KellyClarkson

How utterly pathetic of people if Kelly's weight gain is what's causing them to avoid her. You get the sense that this is a repeat of sorts of what the media did to both Linda and Heart's Ann Wilson when they showed extra poundage late in life.
HOPELESS!

Kelly Clarkson now says that when she said that she felt like she had the plague because she claimed no one wanted to her was all a big joke and that she has a duet with John Legend coming out. Kelly Clarkson: 'It Was All a Big Joke' Guess time spent in this thread was all a waste of time
