A really fine line-up. I'm sure Emmy feels that Linda will be there in spirit.

That sounds like a great show. Looking forward to the DVD or PBS broadcast.
I have no doubt that Linda feels the pangs of not participating in this more than we feel for her.
It kind of makes me feel odd having someone (else) I discovered a billion years ago receiving accolades like this, considering when Pieces of the Sky came out everyone in my crowd thought I was nuts and didn't get her. (Of course, I came to Emmylou through Linda.)

www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2015/01/08/emmylou-harris/21397759/Singers to pay tribute to 'iconic' Emmylou Harris
Nancy Dunham, Special for USA TODAY 11:28 a.m. EST January 8, 2015 Country singer Mary Chapin Carpenter remembers when as an young artist in the 1970s, she would make regular trips to a Washington, D.C., record store to buy the latest from Emmylou Harris — "and with no delay whatever falling completely in love with the music she was making." Adds Carpenter, "She was this iconic person right in the very beginning." On Saturday, about 20 performers — including Sheryl Crow, Kris Kristofferson, Martina McBride and Carpenter — will pay tribute to Harris in a special concert in Washington, the city from which she also emerged. Harris, 67, who has recorded 40 albums and won 13 Grammys in a country-folk career dating to the early '70s, will also perform at the event. It will be taped for later broadcast on a TV outlet to be determined. "I didn't even get the words out and artists agreed to play this tribute," says Keith Wortman, the creative and co-executive producer of the show, called The Life & Songs of Emmylou Harris: An All-Star Concert Celebration. "We have about 20 artists and I could easily have 20 more. She has broken through so many barriers and reinvented herself and her sound, staying true to vision. She has never been an artist that just followed what was popular." Media-shy Harris declined to be interviewed, but her story goes like this: While playing D.C.-area clubs in the early 1970s, she met members of California country-rock group the Flying Burrito Brothers, who introduced her to leader Gram Parsons. He had been seeking a duet partner, and ended up becoming Harris' mentor and musical collaborator. Following Parsons' death in 1973, Harris formed the Hot Band, whose members included musicians who had backed Parsons, plus future Grammy winners Ricky Skaggs, Rodney Crowell and Vince Gill. The group's music, including the remake of the Louvin Brothers' If I Could Only Win Your Love, were staples on the country charts and produced a host of gold records. Among Harris' many solo albums, her biggest breakout might have been Wrecking Ball, produced by Daniel Lanois, in 1995. She used mainly rock musicians to create distinctive covers of songs by Bob Dylan, Steve Earle, Jimi Hendrix and others. The album won the 1995 Grammy for best contemporary folk album and established Harris as a musical pacesetter. Wortman says he developed the tribute concert to underscore how Harris has influenced several generations of artists, such as Crow. "When I was a kid, I was very much into Linda Ronstadt and Stevie Nicks, and I was always looking for females out front," Crow says. Harris "was the first woman I discovered that was actually fronting a band (and playing) a guitar, doing music that I could totally relate to. ... She writes about not just the struggles of females but of humanity. She is just truly one of the great American singer songwriters."

I also saw yesterday that Dolly Parton is developing two new TV specials for NBC, that would have been a fine moment to reform Trio if Linda had been well.
