It had to have been the happiest of coincidences that Neil saw Linda and J.T. in town in Nashville right then and there, and decided to shanghai them into helping him out on "Heart Of Gold" and "Old Man." He certainly knew Linda personally, and probably knew James by reputation as well.

I must have overlooked this story the first time.. I was always curious about Neil's choice.. I am listening to Heart of Gold as I type this; however Linda's vocals are much more obvious on the chorus of Old Man, almost like a duet. Neil has had several duets with Linda, my favorites are probably the two from his Freedom album.. especially here:

hanging on a limb is great. i didn't listen to the link yet so not sure what song robert highlighted. trying to remember the other songs on freedom. also, we all know how prominent she as well as nicolette are on the harvest moon album. not sure how much in depth we have gone into linda with warren zevon. her descant on empty handed heart is brilliant. eddiejinnj

it was hanging on a limb and thanks robert. one song been looking foron youtube is under african skies. they have live versions but i guess because of copyright laws the album version with our lady is not on there. eddiejinnj
