...and both had very nice things to say about Linda...and the mention of her name brought applause and cheers from both audiences...

Not surprising... Jimmy Webb has name Linda as his favorite singer and her version of The Moon is a Harsh Mistress as the best cover of that sing... Linda and Karla have been close colleagues for decades...

To follow-up on a post in a different thread, go see Karla if you have any chance. LR's versions are very similar to Karla's originals, and Karla sings a lot of songs in her concert that LR covered or that LR guested on on KB's album - just as well IMHO (and she wrote them). Closest you'll ever get to a LR concert (and she plays Kenny Edwards guitar).

How cool she would do that. It speaks volumes about friendship.

Trying to decide if I want to buy tickets to Karla's show here outside of Madison. I have been to several of her shows, all of them but the last one I saw of her's, Karla was the opening act. A few years back I went to see her own show at the Stoughton Opera House in Stoughton Wisconsin. The venue is worth the price of the ticket alone, which are $30.00. I have also seen Webb a few times as well, but not since 1993 or 4 at the Roxy in LA when he was doing a show to promote Suspended Disbelief. That show was advertised as Jimmy Webb, featuring a VERY SPECIAL GUEST, everyone in line was in hopes of that special someone was Ronstadt. It was Weird Al Yankovic!

always wished linda recorded "time flies" either solo or with rosie. also, i really believe she gave in to doing all i know out of respect for jw but also as a sort of finale based on the lyrics "the ending always comes at last", etc. it was her way of bowing out gracefully and gave us one more treat. i still think we will hear from her but more on a supportive duet or backing vocal basis, eddiejinnj

haha. That is priceless. Would love to have seen Al! Kind of like Babs dragging Linda Richman around. Comedy and music go very well together.

I thought a couple of Karla Bonoff's reminiscences were off a bit. Before singing "Isn't It Always Love," she said that a couple of artists had recorded the song before she did, namely Lynn Anderson and Nicolette Larson. But I think I pretty distinctly remember that both those ladies released the song well after Karla's debut album. (Maybe they had the song in the can but not released.) Nicolette's debut album didn't have this song though, it was a later album.
Also the anecdote about watching Linda get a Grammy for the song she wrote--- Linda and Aaron received a Grammy for "Don't Know Much" and performed the song too. The next year they won for Karla's "All My Life" but I don't think they were in attendance that year. (But I could be mistaken.)

No, they weren't in attendance for the year they won for "All My Life." Indeed, Linda's and Aaron's performance of "Don't Know Much" on the February 1990 Grammy show was the very last time Linda appeared on the Grammys, to this point, anyway.
