...besides me? I pre-ordered two copies of the book (one for my sister) with amazon over the weekend, even though delivery of the book won't arrive until mid-September. The delivery date will fall between my birthday and my sister's birthday, so my copy will be a belated birthday gift to myself and my sister's copy will be a birthday gift for her. My younger sister and I like many of the same artists, Linda included. Just wish we could get the books before the release date as September is still a good bit of time away.

Sliderocker, did amazon deduct from your card when u pre-ordered the book? I know Amazon does not deduct from a card until it is shipped, but was not sure about pre-ordered specials.

Sliderocker, did amazon deduct from your card when u pre-ordered the book? I know Amazon does not deduct from a card until it is shipped, but was not sure about pre-ordered specials. As far as I know, they don't charge until the book ships because the release date could still be pushed back. Or cancelled. I also pre-ordered a book on the Bee Gees which was supposed to have been released this month, but which has now been pushed back to July 15th (on Linda's birthday, no less). As is, the price of Linda's book - hardcover edition, is locked in at $26, but if the price should drop before it's finally released, amazon will drop the price I'm being charged. I don't think the book will be cancelled at this stage, not unless Linda wants to add more material. I doubt that will happen but it's not impossible that it couldn't happen.

I bought it tonight on Amazon for $17.00 pre-order. I also blew another $100.00 on some more 180 Gram Vinyl. I love listening to albums again, and these are such good quality and sound great.

I (pre) ordered mine.
Where did you get your 180 gram vinyl, Mike? Not that I have a turntable/stereo anymore, but I've often thought of setting one up again, especially when I go to resale shops and see some of those albums in the bins -- especially those box sets of vintage theme music (for dinner, for love, etc.).

I pre-ordered mine tonight also. I'll be holding my breath on the Sept. 17 release date though.

I buy most of my 180 G vinyl through Amazon usually, unless I see a release in my neighborhood record store that is not priced to bad.

I think all pre-orders should be autographed by Linda.

I think all pre-orders should be autographed by Linda. That would be great if it happened, but got my doubts that it would happen. Now, if Linda was to appear at one of the local book stores to sign copies of her book, I'd go into the store and buy an additional copy. But, I think book signing appearances will be few and far between, if at all.

But I'm hoping to actually meet Linda and get her autograph in person. When she does a book tour, I hope she comes to my area. Then I would buy another copy and have her sign it. I'm a freelance writer and I would love to do an interview with Linda. I have actually been in touch with Linda's assistant and she said to call her back in April or May. She said she would let me know then what Linda will be doing as far as press and a book tour. So it sounds promising.

Oh, I have no illusion about Linda signing pre-ordered copies. I guess I should start using emoticons to indicate my facetiousness -- except they're not available in Quick Reply.
Funny, but I'd like to know just where Linda would make in-store appearances for book signings should that be on the agenda. In Chicago, we only have about one or two Barnes and Nobles left.
Perhaps she'll do what Rosanne Cash did when she was promoting her book of short stories: appearing at independent book stores. I saw her at Women and Children First and she not only signed my copy, but she gave me a kiss on the cheek!
Now if Linda did something like that... (insert appropriate emoticon, one with wide eyes and big smile)

We're all looking forward to the release of this book. However, it seems rather short at only 208 pages. I know there's volumes she could write. Neil Young's book is over 500 pages! Regardless, I'm looking forward to it!

Well, it does say in the title that it's a musical memoir, which may explain why it is only 208 pages.
Perhaps this part I, and part II will be her personal memoir? (I doubt it .)
Nonetheless, looking very forward to it along with the rest of you.

It will be interesting to see how well it sells, I am expecting modest sales as best. Hoping for more, but with how little she is brought up or even known of these days, the sales of her last several albums, and her ability and willingness to promote a project, I have a feeling if it is NOT a musical memoir and is advertised as being NOT a musical memoir, modest sales will even be out of the question IMO. We find her life outside of music interesting, I am not sure anyone BUT a raving fan would. She is still looked down on by many for being outspoken. Though I agree with her on politics and I don't avoid confrontation myself if I believe strongly, most don't want to know the facts, knowing them means questioning and uncertainty. Who wants to think when you can watch a reality show? Less and less it seems.

She can say all she wants now as her critics who shouted "Shut Up and Sing" have no footing since she isn't singing and can write all she wants and be as outspoken as ever which I hope she is. I like it when she stirs things up a bit.

This is true ronstadtfanaz, I hope she talks more about Annie Lebowitz and her issues with the photographer. I have read other interviews with female entertainers that Lebowitz photographed in the past who said she tired to set them up with cocaine and revealing outfits for the women to wear instead of those intended.

Two off the top of my head, the Wilson sisters from Heart, they had the exact thing happen to them w/Liebowitz that happened to Ronstadt, if I remember their book correctly, they too gave Liebowitz the heave-ho.

Was Leibowitz an independent photographer or did she work for one company? I remember a lot of her photographs appeared in Rolling Stone and always thought they acknowledged her as one of their employees.
