I don't know about that... it doesn't seem like a lot of money to pay in today's market in that area...

I meant for a house that size in general.. even the backyard looks small and the houses are too close to one another.. i did say location location, which I understand it's where you live as opposeed to what you got.

I don't know about that... it doesn't seem like a lot of money to pay in today's market in that area... I agree. Real estate is extremely pricey in San Francisco. When Willie Brown was mayor of S.F. he got into a lot of trouble for saying that (at that time) no one who earned less than $50,000 a year had any business trying to live there. (I don't have the exact quote, but it was one of those "open mouth, insert foot" moments). I also feel bad for Linda that she doesn't have privacy. This reminds me of when Herb Caen TWICE divulged and printed where she was living.

I don't feel bad.. Unless I missed it her address was not printed here just the home shot. she also volunteered her Tucson home photos in archet. digest. . You can easily obtain photos from many many other artists on google earth, it's really no big deal IMO. I think back when her address was printed this was a time when she was at the height of her popularity so I'm sure more crazy's had access.

Which I don't have..I've seen homes around here similar to that with a much bigger yard/land for a lot lot less.. Even if I had the money I would never in a million years pay that much for a piece of land like that. And the funny part is (not including Linda I know she is very well off) a lot of people cannot afford that kind of price tag but for the sake of prestige go in to debt .. just stupid. IMO oh and if Linda ever decides to move here.. I've got a nice home for her.. maybe they can put it back on the market for her (riiight) good price too!! and very Linda.. www.oldhousedreams.com/2011/03/16/1886-stick-victorian-astoria-or/

First time to see this. Still, I think it's a very nice looking pad--too bad about the close proximity to other houses and neighbours. But I wouldn't mind at all living next door to her, perhaps greet each time I see her: "Hi Linda."

I blew them up but they don't appear to be very typical orbs which leads me to believe they were reflections however their position is curious. The house itself doesn't look particularly haunted although I did get a "twinge" when looking at one of the smaller room photos. I wonder if these photos were before she purchased the home and the furniture is "staging furniture?" I like Linda's taste in homes. They always seem cozy and functional to me. I particularly loved her Tucson home.

I didn't realize this had been already posted. I had seen a couple of pics before (the exterior and the living room), but never the kitchen, the dining room or the guest house. LOVE the kitchen. Linda does have very nice taste indeed!
The stunning view of the Golden Gate Bridge is worth the price of admission alone!

I loved her Tucson home too. My favorite. But I have never seen photos of the larger victorian she orig had in san fran then sold.. bet I'd love that one even more!!!! Or more photos of her malibu home.. but I hated the home styles back in the mid 70's.. I bet that san fran victorian was a beauty!!!

This house was built in 1906, a famous date in SF history. Her kitty can't go out back when it rains What location is that bridge photo taken from? Upper floor or a car? Upper floor, and that's part of a skylight (of a neighbor's house) in the lower left of the picture you were looking at.

Linda's SF house is nice looking (especially the interiors) but it doesn't look like the kind of home that would be occupied by a celebrity. Think the price she paid was far higher than what she could've paid elsewhere in the US for the same style and amount of square feet - even for San Francisco. I think anywhere else she would probably have paid no more than $300,000, maybe even much less than that in some regions. Then again, I'm someone who thinks the cost of housing is way out of proportion to the cost of living, and even where housing may appear cheap to some, it's still way too high.
(One of my gripes with conservatives is that we're living in a millionaire society in which not everyone is a millionaire, and that the poorer among us struggle because wages are seriously out of whack in relation to the cost of living. They see no problem with the high cost of living and lowest possible wages except when it involves providing assistance to those who can't make it on low wages.)

Slide, I totally agree with you.. but san fran along with NYC and parts of LA and OC .. homes are way over priced, even now. You're right, imo, the home she lives in and what she paid for it, lots of every day people in oc and la live in homes like that.My cousin and her husband are both long shoreman.. (they make good money) live in a 2 mil dollar home in san pedro.. gorgeous ocean view.. my other relative and his wife are realtors and they live in irvine ca.. kind of a upscale area of the oc.. same value of home, they are realestate brokers.. good jobs but not at the celeb caliber like Linda.. somebody is living above their means.. and maybe somebody.. is living below..lol I prefer the latter.. but I'd still chose a bigger home and yard for my money

It isn't occupied by a celebrity. It's occupied by Linda Ronstadt!
Is that Inky?
I have a view of the freeway pedestrian bridge from my house..lol. It is kind of neat though. Not like the Golden Gate or Brooklyn Bridge but it's all mine!

Their logic may be they think they're entitled to get rich at someone else's expense or they've got to have money coming in because they moved into a new expensive home they couldn't afford, and asking a high price for their old home and getting that price offsets some of what they're paying. But, it's just not the consumer playing the real estate game. It's also the tax board. I know of one house in Oklahoma City where the owner bought the house in 2004 for $23,000 - a steal. The tax board assessed that person's house at $85,000 two years later. The person made no changes to the house to speak of, and I would've placed the value of the home at around $47,000, which might even be a little on the high side. It's not a bad house or in a bad neighborhood, but it is in an old neighborhood and it's a small house. Last time I checked though, the tax board had lowered the value of the house to $75,000 - still way too high. But, it's kind of funny. People will complain about the high cost of gas and high cost of food and anything else but not housing. And it's housing which takes a good chunk of their income more than anything else, although cars are a close second.

March 12, 2006 From the Chicago Tribune SNOOP PATROL If it's got a past, it's got a place in Ronstadt's San Fran home
By Nina Metz Special to the Tribune
Her worldwide album sales may have topped the 50 million mark, but home for singer Linda Ronstadt is anything but flashy. During the school year, she and her two children reside in a four-bedroom, two-bathroom Craftsman-style San Francisco duplex she bought a couple years ago for its "good light, good architecture and nice view of the bay."
The multi-Grammy-winner -- who comes to the Rosemont Theatre March 25 for a special performance with the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra -- says she gravitates toward anything that's from the past -- specifically, before 1906. She has furnished her home with "a funny mixture of antiques and shabby chic." The master bedroom is done in a mellow pallet of gray and white. Even the hardwood floor is painted white and, surprisingly, keeping it clean is not an issue, she says.
Lehigh Valley LocalLinks
Once school lets out, the Ronstadt clan de-camps for its three-bedroom Mediterranean-style home in Arizona that was built in 1924. Though normally exceedingly private about her home life, Ronstadt graciously opened the doors to her San Francisco pad -- via telephone -- to give us a glimpse inside.
1. One thing on your nightstand: "Active Liberty: Interpreting Our Democratic Constitution" by Stephen Breyer.
2. One thing on a wall in your living room: A photograph of [the 19th Century Norwegian painter] Edvard Munch's back yard by [art photographer] Rocky Schenck.
3. Three condiments we would find in your refrigerator: Peanut butter is a staple; and kimchi . I don't eat like other people do. I don't use condiments and I don't let my kids eat them. I don't consider ketchup food -- I consider it an entertainment product.
4. Do your dirty dishes go in the sink or dishwasher? Sink. I don't like dishwashers. They're a waste of space.
5. Most high-tech gadget or appliance in your home: Let me tell you things I don't have: I don't have a TV and I don't have a microwave.
6. Maker of your everyday dinnerware: I collect antique plates.
7. Maker of your fine china: The same. I just use them all the time.
8. If you had to save one thing from your home, what would it be? My down comforter.
9. What music have you been listening to at home lately? I listen to opera a lot. I listen to a lot of Mahler.
10. Most embarrassing thing in your home that you hide when guests come over: I don't do that. I'm one of those people who believes there's a place for everything and everything in its place.

Is that Inky? Not sure, I've heard she's got as many as 13 cats! She sold or leased her AZ home a couple years ago, it had a heated pool

Now that's a woman after my own heart! It's pretty easy to wind up with lots of cats out West. The weather is conducive to their breeding and survival and they tend to adopt you whether you like it or not. I wonder if she does TNR? I didn't notice any eartips. I know Emmy rescues dogs where she lives. Nice to see stars with big hearts.
