artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/01/30/report-says-jim-nabors-marries-partner-in-seattle/?ref=arts It has never been a big secret that Jim Nabors is gay, but this is the first time he is making a public statement about it. I'd always heard/read that he is conservative politically. Maybe he thought it would hurt him with his Southern Christian evangelical fan base. At least in the interview portion of the article he seems to get that his partner, who is in his 60s, would not have the same rights unless they were married.

I remember the rumors, around '72 that he married Rock Hudson. Rock supposedly wore the white dress, lol!

Jim's sexual preference has been known for some time.. congrats and best wishes to all.. Robert, I think we are on the same side of this. I wish Jim and his husband well. Of course. I said in my original post that it has never been a secret. However, Jim even admitted that he had never spoken about it publicly. And maybe it is good for his fan base to see that someone who supported right-wing politicians and causes over the years was/is in a long-time (38-years-long) relationship with another man. Maybe if enough of them see that the world doesn't end because of marriage equality, we will see it in more states.

Quote by Rick:
We will almost certainly see gay marriage legalized in more states, but I don't think the attitudes of the right-wing evangelicals are ever going to change. That may sound cynical, but I think I'm just being realistic. They see things with a "my way or the highway" attitude (IMHO).

That may be a good thing as it keeps people far away from their organization.
