I never cared for the strip malls or shopping malls you see in place of the old town, quaint and charming look. I remember my hometown Anaheim, Ca, probably late 70's early 80's they leveled the downtown and rebuilt.. such a shame.. look how cute it was. I know downtown orange and fullerton has kept it's old time charm.. I think Pasadena too (right erik) been awhile since I have been there.. just makes me mad, I bet whoeveer rebuilt regrets it now. I can't get the image feature to work, here is the link.. so cute it was!!!! sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/22093_4391560481311_343283934_n.jpg

Yes, the Old Town section of Pasadena was refurbished, with a lot of the older buildings bought up to 21st century building codes but otherwise as they were. And it's still going on too; we kind of revere our city's history.

And it's funny.. it seems most of the area's which have kept their old charm i.e downtown fullerton and orange ca.. are doing very well business wise.. it attracts more people.. and if I remember it's always packed .. both of these area's are near colleges.. fulllerton state and chapman univ. downtown astoria has kept it's charm too.. but the antique shops are kind of expensive.. just fun to walk around and grab some food.

I live in a small town (with apologies to John Mellencamp) called Perrysburg, OH and it has such a nice feel to it. Very safe with great schools and a charm all its own. You can leave you house/car doors unlocked and not worry although I don't. Very nice people too. Here's the main street of the city (Louisiana Ave.): Down the street is Fort Meigs which played a huge role in the War of 1812. In fact, the city has been celebrating the bicentennial of that war. The city is named after Commodore Perry. Our outdoor shopping area with fine restaurants: This area of town is developing a lot not only with the shopping center but with condos and a hotel as well. And this is general information about where I reside if interested: www.elocallink.tv/clients3/oh/perrysburg2010/tourplay.php?movie=perroh10_down_iwd&spon=downtown&type=wh&flver=11&brver=6

Nice town but where are all the snow and blizzard photos?
This would be a good home for everyone to share photos, websites of their home towns or favorite home towns of past. I love that part of America and am particularly interested on non-American home towns as I never traveled much.

That last photo is awesome! It's even prettier running out in those type of conditions too. Just provides a nice backdrop to a mundane activity like running. Put it this way--I used to love winter and snow as a kid, but then when I got older I had to drive in it, snowblow it, clean off the car, etc. and that gets old pretty darn quick.

Paradise for the dogs, that's for sure. Also, that photo could have been a great painting for Bob Ross (RIP)! Nice.
