For her "Mr. Sandman" single, Emmylou wasn't able to release the version that's on her Evangeline album with Linda and Dolly because of all the record label issues regarding tracks recorded for the first Trio sessions, so she re-recorded all the parts herself. You have to go the Evangeline album or The Complete Trio Collection for the Trio version. Both versions are excellent but I think that the Trio version of Robbie Robertson’s “Evangeline” is the standout track on the Evangeline album and one of the best things that the Trio ever recorded. Stunning, and (along with “Light of the Stable” and “Palms of Victory“) not on The Complete Trio Collection.

I picked out "Mr. Sandman" to write about. I was going to say how much I loved the 3 of them on this. I remember, now, some discussion re: the Emmylou only track. Weird that the review included discussion of the Trio version. The writer must have assumed it would be the track from the album.
