I don’t get the Alfred E. Neuman/Linda illustration. Is there a caption missing?

Well, first off it's not so funny. The only thing I get from this cartoon is that Neuman is bringing Linda flowers and candy for Valentine's Day, and the improbability that Linda would be interested in him. But according to his shirt, he has no worries.

Thanks Tony, I missed the candy box/Valentine’s Day reference.

He kinda has the same haircut as Linda did at that time.

The guy in the record store looks like Jerry. No? I think the cartoon is cute overall especially Alfred courting Linda. The Mickey Mouse punk was most likely a spoof on Chipmunk Punk which did include a version of "How Do I Make You" So Linda is all over that comic. imo
