Just saw the intro and said cool cool car (old station wagon) and it said S Poitier and he stopped for water for car. Is that Linda's house in beginning? Sidney has a cool waist length jean jacket on. He getting hired for one day by Mother Maria. eddiejinnj

Yes, the film was at least partly shot on Linda's family's property. Poitier, in case anybody's forgotten, became the first African-American to win an Oscar as Best Actor for his performance in this film.

That fact I knew and what film it was for. He has great stage/film presence and a calm kindness to him. I knew it was filmed on the property. I wasn't exactly sure if they used their bldgs or not. Thanks!!!! Wish I had an Academy Award winning actor use my property. He wasn't at the time of filming but within a year. Linda had a charmed life. Not perfect certainly because of her mother's accident but she was/is very fortunate. eddiejinnj

Following the movie on PBS last night, Richard Pena mentioned that property owned by Linda's father was used in the film.

Way cool!!! Wasn't the land technically her grandfather's? The fact that the Ronstadt land was mentioned after the film is still cool. eddiejinnj
