It been forever since I have read this article. The title of it is a parody/reference, imo, from "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman". A show I watched all the time around that time frame. Thanks for the reading material and will sit with it when I have some time later. Thanks, Boss!!! eddiejinfl

Thank you for the original pages. I remember reading this when it first came out, at the Nutley NJ Public Library. At that time, it was still a bit surprising to see her getting such extensive coverage from a “serious” music magazine. Ten albums in, she had arrived.

What an excellent article.... maybe one of the best I've read.
I was reminded of a website a friend suggested to me a couple of years ago with an extraordinary treasure chest of music magazines, UK and US, and sho' nuff Stereo Review was there, so a couple of other editions with Linda reviews and one in particular from 1971 with an excellent Sinatra piece, and Linda... great stuff :-) downloadable as PDFs
worldradiohistory.com/index.htm
A website I can spend all day trawling through!
for example - Record Mirror was a great UK music paper...it's all here :-)
And huge vaults of magazines for the hi-fi fans out there

the worldradiohistory website is where I download a lot of the articles I post on the forum/website. I usually do some photoshop on them to make them look better. Another website that I get articles from is newspapers.com and lately I have been mining archive.org although I have trouble narrowing down exactly what I'm searching for. I know these websites are open to anyone (exept newspapers) but I am trying to get all the relevant Ronstadt content in one location.

I found the Stereo Review reviews of Hasten Down The Wind and Mad Love amongst the best I have read. I would describe the writing style as 'High Brow' and I probably would have not been so enthusiastic about them at the time, but looking back at music from a different perspective they really are on the money, especially the review of Mad Love which sums up the era and the style so accurately.
At the time I probably would have frowned at any review that didn't just sing out enthusiastically about an artist I followed, whether I had heard the album already or not :-) :-)
The Sinatra 'retirement' article in the 1971 edition is a brilliant read, I've read books on Sinatra which say much less than that one piece.
